President Obama's weak response to terrorism not only goes against the most basic of American values, but it has also struck fear in the hearts of those looking to bring freedom and democracy to the Middle East. Many activists are afraid the weakness that President Obama has shown with Iranians and other terrorist regimes will lead to more terror attacks.
Dr. Adib Taleb, a Syrian writer living in Lebanon, describes himself as an independent member of the Syrian opposition for human rights in Syria. He is seeking peaceful democratic change in Syria. Following the failed attempt by Nigerian student and Al-Qaeda member 'Umar Farouq Abdulmutallab to blow himself up aboard Northwest Airlines flight 253 on Christmas Day 2009, Syrian liberal Adib Taleb wrote an article in the Lebanese daily Al-Mustaqbal in which he pointed an accusatory finger at U.S. President Barack Obama, saying that his softness on terrorism implies weakness, and that this is not an appropriate response to the problem. The greatest alternative to tyranny in the history of the world is closing up shop and ending its mission on Earth.
The United States of America shall no longer hold itself up as the beacon to the world. Should those who chronicle events in the future remember us at all, it shall be as an experiment in humanity that failed, not because the conception of the model upon which it was founded was lacking, but because people found the concept too difficult to apply.
Ir was simply too troublesome to maintain the dedication to principle that was required, and the principles were discarded and abandoned one by one.
