Massachusetts Democrats Keep Playing Politics With The Law

Here we go again. Democrats are already trying to delay Republican candidate Scott Brown's being sworn into the US Senate and he hasn't even won Tuesday's special election yet. Massachusetts Secretary of State William F. Galvin (D), citing state law, said city and town clerks must wait at least 10 days for absentee ballots to arrive before they certify the results of the January 19 election. They then have five more days to file the returns with his office. Such a delay could preserve the Democrats' filibuster-proof super majority long enough to pass Obamacare.

You may think Secretary Galvin is just doing his job and upholding state law regardless of politics and party allegiance. But alas, you would be wrong. Democrats in the Bay State have a history of playing politics with the law and this isn't the first time (or even the second time) Secretary Galvin has been involved.

Not to worry. If Brown wins, or even comes within 5 percentage points, the Dems will be so shell-shocked that health care is probably done for anyway.

Howie Carr calls Billy Galvin, "The Prince of Darkness" and it seems like the guy has been there forever.

Have top Democrats realized that Coakley can’t win no matter what she does, and their method of “campaigning” is to be as pathetic as possible, so as to control the spin after her loss?

Republican Pundit: What the Coakley loss proves is that the American People don’t want Obamacare, or anything that Obama is trying to pass. Democrats are in real trouble in November unless they stop voting for things that Americans do not want.

Democrat Pundit: Certainly not. Why would you say that? Americans love Obama. The reason why Coakley lost is that she ran a terrible campaign and was a poor candidate. Her aide was caught on video assaulting a reporter. She said during a debate that the terrorists have gone from Afghanistan. She mocked Brown for shaking the hands of sports fans. She spelled Massachusetts wrong in her TV ad. And all of those things were in the last 2 weeks before the election. So, no, Americans love Obama, and Democrats can continue to vote for Obama’s legislation, and they’ll have no trouble winning in November provided they don’t attack reporters, say extremely stupid things during a debate, mock their opponent for campaigning with the voters, or spell the name of their state wrong in their ads.

Harry Ried said, “When there is a certified winner in Massachusetts, the Senate has received appropriate papers, and the vice president is available, the successor to Kennedy/Kirk will be sworn in.”

There are a lot of conditions there.

It will take 28 days to certify him.

The paperwork will have to be printed and sent to Washington. 3-5 days (this stuff needs to be checked, and rechecked)

The Senate staff needs to read the documents. 1-3 days (they have a lot of work to do, and there IS Kirk to represent the State)

The Vice President needs to be available. (What do you bet they schedule the VP to be on an extended overseas trip) 5-10 days.

It could be April before this is done. And that assumes its not close.

And its all legal, and within the reasonable rules of the Senate.
