PRESIDENT OBAMA’S FORGIVNESS IS THE BIGGEST POLITICAL PAYBACK IN HEALTHCARE LEGISLATION.

By: Andy DeStephano

Senator Harry Reid has been awarded the biggest political payback to date in the Obama Administration’s quest to pass the Healthcare Bill. Although other legislators have gained financial rewards for their states in exchange for their votes; Reid has been absolved of his wrong doings for his loyalty.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has come under fire as news has been reported about racially insensitive comments he made in reference to President Obama. I will not speculate about the backlash had other individuals made a similar statement; however just ask Former Senator Trent Lott or Radio Personality Don Imus about the consequences for their racially toned remarks.

Why should Senator Reid be an exception? The answer is quite simple and most will not admit the underlying reason, President Obama has no bigger ally in the Senate than Senator Reid in passing the Healthcare Bill. President Obama knows that Senator Reid has been a loyal supporter and is willing to forgive him in order to achieve his own agenda. Condemning Senator Reid and holding him accountable would create a potential roadblock in passing legislation that many oppose. Why alienate one of your strongest supporters when once again you can choose the path of least resistance?

The media will praise President Obama for taking the high road and staying focused upon what is deemed to be more important, while claiming Right-Winged Conspiracy is preventing good men like Senator Reid from doing what is right for our country. President Obama is missing a golden opportunity to show true bipartisanship by holding one of the highest members in his own party accountable. Racism is wrong regardless of who the person is or what they may have done in the past. Condemn the current act and take a stand against what is truly wrong; Senator Reid needs to be held responsible. It is apparent that Reid’s colleagues and our President have no interest in punishing him for his mistakes and it’s appalling when activists like the Reverend Al Sharpton and NAACP are willing to overlook the situation.

I will not publicly call for Senator Reid to resign from office; however he should step aside from being the Majority Leader. The Obama Presidency has been celebrated as one of historical proportion and a sign of how our great nation has evolved over time. By allowing Senator Reid to be forgiven without consequence is truly an example of selling out and placing politics above principle. Now we can add another to the list of political paybacks throughout the Healthcare debate; may I suggest we refer to this one as “The Vegas Payout”.

If this passes (and I still don’t think it will), we can all become Amish - as they are exempt.

Watch insurance companies come out with Amish health plans. !!!
