AbdulMutallab's passport surfaces
The Obama Report ^ | 1/2/09

Posted on 01/03/2010 12:03:20 AM PST by Frankusa

Sahara Reporters has obtained a copy of the international passport (#A-392-1640) of Farouk Umar AbdulMuttalab, the 23-year-old Nigerian who was arrested on Christmas day following a failed plot to bomb Northwest flight 253 as it was preparing to land in Detroit. The document was issued in Lagos on September 15 2005 and is set to expire on September 15, 2110.

Kurt Haskell, a Michigan attorney who was on board the plane, has told various new outlets that he had seen a well-dressed man attempt to help Mr. Abdulmutallab board the flight in Amsterdam without a passport. But apparently, a passport had indeed been issued to Mr. Abdulmutallab.

Meanwhile, the New York Times on Friday, quoted a Nigerian intelligence official who criticized both Nigerian and American Intelligence agencies for failing to pass on the warnings it had received from Mr. Abdulmutallab’s own father. However, the official aimed his harshest criticism at his American counterparts, “because these are agencies we look up to.”

“If we had been informed, we would have put him on a watch list,” he said. “There’s no way he would have boarded a plane in Nigeria.”

The official said that the Americans, in particular, should have been more careful “because they are the major targets.”

“If they can’t work on simple intelligence from what I would describe as a reliable person,” he said, [then] "nobody’s safe if they don’t take it seriously.”

2110? It must be a fake for sure...

You do not need a birth certificate to get a passport.

Check out the dude’s signature. That’s the first indication I’ve seen that he’s mentally deficient.

I noticed that he was “issued” a passport.
It does not say that he presented it to travel.

Cindy, I looked at the article you linked to, but I’m not sure what you’re trying to say.

I got the Sarah Reporter link from your blog entry you posted and I wanted to know if you heard of them before?

I haven’t.

Not a trick question really.

That’s all.

It is well known that he is the son of a prominent baker. Osma Bin Laden came from a wealthy family too, as well as many of the others who’ve perpertrated attacks against the US. I don’t think they’re trying to whitewash this guy.

“You do not need a birth certificate to get a passport.”

That’s interesting. I just arranged for passports on both of my children and provided birth certificates for both of them. Are those “international passports” different than the US passports I just obtained? Perhaps there are other documents that would suffice. Not sure what they might be. They seemed to be fine with the BC’s though.

No, I haven’t heard of them before. Don’t know if they’re legit or not. But they don’t seem to have much sympathy for the Nigerian security officials, so I’m not sure they’d try to cover for them

Frank, I’m not saying anything about the articles or content.

I was inquiring about “SaharaReporters.”
I have not seen this as a source before and I wondered if you
were familiar with the site?
