I just finished listening on my IPod to Sarah Palin’s new book, “Going Rogue, An American Life.” I personally found this book to be quite fascinating, encouraging, positive and full of old school values which are absolutely missing from American culture today. No wonder why the American Left hates this book and Mrs. Palin. All that Sarah stands for is a threat to their secular, liberal, nanny-state ideology.
This book starts off with a call to Mrs. Palin at the Alaska State Fair from John McCain headquarters, then delves into the personal autobiography of Sarah’s life up to the present. It includes her struggles, joys, achievements, hard work, family, political service, overcoming endurance and singleness of vision for America - the land that she loves.
I personally love knowing what makes people tick - what’s behind their core beliefs and how it motivates them and their lives. Her “old school” upbringing of faith in God, hard work, family and love of country is what people love about her and what is truly gripping in this read. Her genuine honesty about life’s realities, joys and trials are quite refreshing in light of the current political hypocrisy that dominates the elite class of Washington’s aristocracy. She is truly an overcoming victor in the midst of life’s trials and tribulations.
This book had me glued to it. In the audio version, Mrs. Palin personally narrates her book with passion and with authenticity that is warm and personal to the listener. She answers all the questions that one might have about her in the light of her rush to popularity within the last year.

I’m on page 85. The part about that librarian was interesting. I remember during the campaign when the story broke that Palin had tried to ban books. The truth of the matter was that she simply asked a question of the librarian (I won’t go into detail for those who haven’t read yet) and the librarian who probably just didn’t agree with Palin’s politics or something turned into a story about book banning which it was nothing of the sort. Good book. I like her even more now.
Hang on to your hat, the Palin bashers have been out in force lately and will be here shortly, denouncing us Palin “cuktists.”

I bought it for my sister for Christmas on the condition that I get to read it when she’s done. Does she discuss her reasons for stepping down as governor? With something like an 80% popularity rating I never understood that.
I usually listen to audio books, but had to have a hard copy of Palin’s autobiography. I’m about half-way through it. It reads like a long, long letter from a best friend. Good read so far.
You’ll completely understand and will admire her even more for having stepped down.
Good review, TIF. I would have liked to see Sarah stay on as governor, but the lib idiots in both parties were making it impossible for her to do so. I have not read Going Rogue yet but I intend to.
Yes she does but her popularity rating had dropped considerably after all the left wing smears.
Yes, you will understand. What I don’t understand is why something wasn’t done to counter all the frivolous nonsense that was going on. They really were intent on bankrupting her. It seems she should have had the right to counter-sue for legal costs when the ‘ethics violations’ were found to be untrue. Just outrageous!
But once the American people understand, they’ll be on her side.

I got the book from my husband for Christmas. I read it in 3 days. I loved it. She is a fascinating woman. I just love her.
Enjoyed reading the book a lot. I like Sarah, although I suspect she’s more hyperactive than I am.
Reading the book did make me a little hard to get along with for a few days. I’m tired of being a supporter, rather than a leader. And worse, tired of being expected to support weak Republicans and outright RINO’s.
Sarah is a real person who has worked just about every minute of her teen and adult life. I identify both with her working to get through college and with the fact that she just goes on out there, even tilts against windmills. Sometimes, she does the right thing, knowing it will hurt and win more enemies than friends.
I can also identify with her dilemma when faced with the wrong-headed McCain campaign. She didn’t want to undermine people she had every right to believe were the experts. And she didn’t want to be the whiner or diva who ran to McCain with grievances. (I wish she had - the best moments in the campaign were when she said what the rest of us were saying.)
Absolutly one of the best books I’ve read in years!
I just hope she reaches out to Sweaty Teddy for a cabinet position.
I am a slow reader so I am only up to page 324. What a fascinating eye opener into the behind the scenes of American Politics. She seems to be the only politician that is the real deal. Not a piece of clay that handlers mold.
I loved the book and hope she has a great future. I am reading a book about Cheney and I wish we had him back in DC.
Being two thirds of the way through the book, I am trying to figure out what all the hullabaloo was about all the fact-check people assigned to the book. Most of the book is very matter of fact - daily memoirs put to paper. It would be like fact checking someones diary.
