NBC News political analyst Charlie Cook, the editor and publisher of The Cook Political Report", appeared recently on MSNBC's "Hardball" with Chris Matthews, and shared his outlook for the upcoming 2010 elections in November. Along with Cook were other political talking heads who basically confirmed Cook's assumption that 2010 is shaping up to be a very tough year for Democrats and a potential banner year for the minority party, the Republicans.
Things could change, obviously, but the excerpts of the conversation between Matthews and Cook are a bit of an eye-opener if you're a Democrat, and encouraging if you're a Republican...

This may be a divided country but its not a nutless country. There will be elections in 2010.
What is worrying me is that a lot of the pundits keep talking about the rise of a third party. I agree we need to get rid of the RINOs, but that must be in the PRIMARIES, not in the general election. A third-party candidate means a Dem victory!

It's actually about 300million privately owned firearms according to the latest estimates from the NRA/Justice Dept.
If the Congress were to somehow interfere, overtly, in the 2010 elections...they'd simply be tried and hung on the Capitol steps. Each and every one.

2010 is going to be terrible economically and a chance of inflation.
This pubblies are way ahead of where they were in jan 1, 1995.
We have better candidates, more money, the rats have been worse than clinton and if our message resonates, we could have a few good years.
