Today is my 11th anniversary of signing up on FreeRepublic. I lurked since the beginning of October, 1998, learned about the March for Justice, and travelled to DC from NJ to attend it to join the voices of those calling for the impeachment of a President who had broken the law. How thrilling it was to arrive at the Washington Monument on Oct. 31, 1998 to see a sea of flags and 4,000 patriots! Seven weeks later, President Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives.
Since that time, Freepers have been instrumental in influencing the 2000(Sore/Loserman and "Get out of Cheney's house!) and 2004 elections(exposing Dan Rather's "fake but accurate" Texas ANG memo and helping the SwiftBoat Vets), in shutting down amnesty not once, but twice in 2006, and in pulling the GOP kicking and screaming to the right as an outcome of the disastrous 2008 election of the Usurper-in-Chief.
All that time, FreeRepublic has been my refuge to find common sense and camaderie in the political battles of these 11 years. Having a place where like-minded America-loving patriots can gather has proven invaluable.
The year 2010 will be a watershed in the history of America. The Constitution and the rule of law are at risk, not unlike as in 1998 when I first came to FreeRepublic. We have but ten more full months to influence, peacefully, the course of our country, through the candidates we support and the causes we work for.
I wish you all a Happy New Year, and express my hope that there will be a new birth of freedom for America in 2010. Together, we can make that happen. God bless us, every one.
Another 1998 alum here!
Oooops, typo - make that a 1999 alum.
Thank you, freepersup! Now that’s a great screen name—the DC Chapter used that to get everyone on board for an event.
Glad you finally got around to signing up.
Happy New Year to you!
Just giving the mods a heads up to tell them they can deliver my new car anytime between now and then. (Please leave some gas in the tank).
I love anniversaries :-)
I found it intimidating at first too—that’s why it took three months for me to sign up.
I find it much easier to post WITHOUT reading the articles. Saves time, too! ;)
Congratulations! (From a ‘97)
Congratulations.
I just completed my 10th in October.
Sigh! I remember those things as well.
I also remember a young boy named Elian Gonzalez who was forced from his relative’s home at gunpoint to go back to Cuba. Clinton, Reno, and Greg Craig should burn in hell for that.
Just for today-we’ll let you in.
But don’t make it a habit! ;)
Happy New Year to you!
Say, to what location does the moniker exit82 refer? Is that an exit off of one of our Interstates?
You get a new car for your tenth anniversary here?
I’ve been gypped!
Happy New Year to you!
I appreciate the kindness from you seasoned citizens of ‘98. Us Gen-Xer’s from ‘99 are revolting! :-)
I'm not worthy!!!
Good to see you around, Jax. Happy New Year to you!
Thanks, blam. I’ve really enjoyed your posts over the years.
Happy New Year to you!
Me, I heard Rush mention "FreeRepublic" and surfed over to discover a goldmine with like minded people.
Newbie vanities.... sheesh.
"Topic: Whitewater" on Drudge.
Congratulations exit, I will be joining the 12 year club in Feb.
I used to live in Toms River, NJ, which is Exit 82 of the Garden State Parkway, a toll road in New Jersey.
It’s a Jersey thing—when someone wants to know where you live they ask you “What exit?” and it refers to exits of the NJ Turnpike or the GSP.
Moved to Southern Delawar in 2006 to escape the outrageous property taxes in NJ. Southern Delaware is very nice and conservative, unlike northern Delaware or NJ.
1998 is the “best year” of FReeper vintages.
