7 States May Sue Over Ben Nelson's "Cash For Cloture" Deal
Houston Chronicle/The Lid ^ | 12/22/09 | The Lid

Posted on 12/22/2009 6:36:51 PM PST by Shellybenoit

In the end what pushed Obamacare over the top in the Senate were the secret bribes democratic leadership made to "convince" people from his own party to vote for cloture. The most significant of the "bennies" was the one which helped Ben Nelson switch from pro-life to pro-choice. Nelson managed to win a share of the section of the manager's amendment on Equitable Support for Certain States, which will provide Nebraska, along with Massachusetts and Vermont, support in paying its share of additional costs to Medicaid in the health legislation.

Attorney Generals in Seven States are investigating whether they can sue the federal government over Nelson's Cornhusker Kickback on constitutional grounds.

If a legislator flat out accepts a bribe and the legislation then passes by one vote, does the legislation stand?

If a legislator shoots dead one of the opposition, and the legislation passes by one vote, does it stand?

Sadly, the Supremes might have a tough time tackling this one due to separation of powers.

It might be time for a citizens committee from the several states to conduct arrests (note: I DID NOT SAY start shooting) and convene a common law trial.

And honestly, I think any seated grand jury in the country could issue an indictment. In fact I think that if members of a grand jury BELIEVED that there has been a crime committed, it would be a VIOLATION OF THEIR OATH if they do not investigate it.

I bet it sucks to get rolled by your own party.

This reminds me of the end scene from the movie 1776, when the Pennsylvania delegation is split on the issue of independency, yet a unanimous vote is required.

They poll the delegation, and Benjamin Franklin votes yea, John Dickinson votes nay, and James Wilson, Dickinson's poodle, says that he doesn't want to go down in history as the man who prevented American independence, and votes yea.

Ben Nelson is Harry Reid's poodle, and he voted away his principles for party unity, and now he wants to give back his 30 pieces, too?

We will. First we have to give the Donks enough rope to hang themselves. They are incredibly stupid and are commiting suicide. We must assist the in the endeavor.

Okay, let’s keep the pressure on - especially Nelson. The governor and people of Nebraska are really giving it to him. Let’s add fuel to the fire! Let him know we are not only sick of the corruption of which he is chief benefactor, but we will also be cheering for the Cornhuskers to lose big to the Arizona Wildcats in their upcoming bowl game!

Graham is a putz. All of a sudden trying to get Republican street cred.

Street cred? What the heck is that? Is that slang for something?

Graham is a very savvy conservative, WHEN HE WANTS TO BE.

He’s a pretty smart guy, but he’s so unpredictable.

Anyway, I’m glad he is going after Nelson.

Funny how two of Reids’s whores are now claiming they aren’t whores. Only Bernie is proud of being Reid’s whore.

Thanks.

Glad to see Michigan’s AG Mike Cox has taken this on. If you’re from Michigan, please call his office tomorrow and thank him. Maybe he’ll be encouraged to aggressively pursue this by the response he gets.

Ben Nelson is what Stalin would call a useful idiot. Nelson is so stupid that he actually believes that Obama and the other Neo-Nazis that run Congress will keep their word. Nelson sold his soul for empty promises.

Any AG who knows of unlawful acts committed against their State may arrest and prosecute those that committed such acts.

“This is what you get when you have Dual Citizen “

You assume he is a citizen. So far that has not been shown.

Arizona should be on that list but we have a Lib Attorney General, Janet’s buddy Terry Goddard who wants to run for Gov again. (he lost in the last decade).
