We here in Britain are well-aquainted with the haughty disdain with which U.S. President Barack Obama likes to treat his European allies. We might have the largest military force of any European country fighting alongside the Americans in southern Afghanistan, but that doesn’t seem to count for much at the White House, where Mr Obama’s shabby treatment of our prime minister has now become the norm. Whether it is offering him a box set of dvds, or forcing him to conduct important bilateral meetings in the kitchens of the U.N. complex in New York, Mr Obama’s charmless treatment of Gordon Brown has become a standard feature of the so-called special relationship.
But now, with his dismissive treatment of the Nobel peace prize committee, Mr Obama’s supercilious behaviour has plunged new depths. One might question why on earth the worthy souls responsible for awarding the prize decided on someone whose main claim to fame so far is simply to have got himself elected. But having accepted the award, the least Mr Obama could do would be to show the Norwegian hosts some respect. But no, Mr Obama insists on doing everything his way, even when it comes to something as banal as accepting a peace prize, and on this occasion he has managed to cause immense offence to the peace-loving Scandawegians.
First Mr Obama declines an invitation to lunch with King Harald V, the Norwegian monarch, an event every other winner, from the Dailai Lama to Al Gore, has graciously accepted. Then he announces he won’t have time to visit the Oslo Peace Centre, where the achievements of previous winners are celebrated. As one Norwegian public relations expert puts it: “The American president is acting like an elephant in a porcelain shop.”

2. I wonder what my euro and especially brit co-workers are thinking now after they went to all lengths to vote for the One. One russian and one brit went so far as to become citizens. I bet H. never really cared for that old Queen anyway.
But, but... his ascension to the presidency was to guarantee the world would love us again! You mean there is a downside to electing a classless, ignorant, self-aggrandizing, socialist a$$ clown? Who knew?
Guess those Brits are figuring out Barry not only hates whitey, he hates European whitey too!
Given the ridicule Obama received, over being awarded the Nobel, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’d managed to turn it around and make it into a plot to embarrass him, so he blames them.
Add that on top of the typical, dyed-in-the-wool radicalism, of W. E. B. Du Bois, and yes, Malcom X, then you have the source of the weird paranoia, and the source of the antipathy toward anything that could remotely be deemed an “oppressor” of American blacks.
Obama has internalized all this, despite his having no authentic claim to it, being raised in privilege, going to the best schools, completely segregated away from what he now deigns to champion.
It’s Jeremiah Wright on the world stage, folks. None of this is done innocently. It’s naiveté in the extreme, true, but the naive aspect is on a level above where Obama is operating. He thinks he knows what he’s doing.
Aw-w-w-w-w-w-w schucks! Ya’ll over there in Europa need to recollect that ya’ll thought Da One was Da Messiah!! He come to save ya’ll! He be da one to take down dat awful Bush feller! He be da one ta brang peace to da world!!!!

Well, what did the Norwegians expect? They made their precious prize as worthless as a crackerjacks prize by awarding it to every phony to come along (I mean really, Al Gore? Jimmy Carter? Yasser Arafat?) and then they wonder why nobody shows them any respect.
