“Is this science friendly Catholic Church the same Catholic Church that was involved in that Galileo thing?”

Ooohhh.... you’re good.

The Catholic church has had its share of scandals and issues no doubt but so did America... we all learn and grow (with the occasional annoying exception). Honestly, if the Church head supports evolution then they are mistaken. However, the assumption that, as he continually puts it that ‘Billions’ of Catholics believe in evolution is entirely unfounded. He’s backed off of that in other threads before but he thinks it plays well enough to re-spin it. I’m not inclined to argue with him anymore. I’ll save it for those interested in truth and not stirring the pot.

I have backed off of nothing. To be Catholic, as so many Freepers point out with regard to the abortion issue, one needs to be in Communion with the Church. Those who reject Church doctrine and teachings, regardless of the box they check on a census form, are not Catholic. Now stop trying to tell Catholics what we believe.
