Huckabee a Most Dangerous Man
From Sea To Shining Sea ^ | 12/04/09 | PurpleMountains

During the 2008 campaign I made the statement that I thought that Huckabee was the most dangerous Republican candidate in that he would be a disaster as president. I said this because of the excesses of compassion that he had demonstrated as governor of Arkansas, as well as his unwillingness to put aside his religious beliefs in the conduct of public business. He is obviously a very talented showman, as his success on Fox demonstrates, but again I say, he is a most dangerous man. His misplaced compassion has left many victims. Clemmons is to Huckabee as Willie Horton was to Mike Dukakis - a glimse into their inner, dangerous foolishness.

Huckabee is a sincere Christian person who means well but who is dangerously naive about the evil of human nature which makes him unable to be an effective national leader who must be both compassionate and ruthless.

The three easiest way for a used car salesman to gain power
is to become a preacher, a politician or get a TV show.

Not dangerous, just dumb and way too soft.

as well as his unwillingness to put aside his religious beliefs in the conduct of public business.

Neither did the Framers.

He’s dangerous because alot of conservatives believe in what he’s selling. He’ll split our vote.

True compassion gives mercy and justice to the victims families.

Exactly. The false compassion that Huckster has exhibited is the liberal reading of the Gospel.

In terms of its political implications: just making the path a little clearer for Palin that’s all.

Honestly though, in Huckabee’s defense, let us PLEASE remember that the file HE dealt with was NOT the same as it is now. AT the time the man was just a juvenile kid sentenced to over a century in jail for committing robbery... (he had not been noted to be a rapist or murderer!)

IT IS true that some sentences are unjustly given and over the top and we shouldn’t ignore that just because of this...however tragic and awful this particular case ended up.

The absence of religious beliefs in the conduct of public business is much more dangerous than the pretense of religious beliefs as the history of the 20th Century has clearly shown.

The problem with the Huckster is that he reads the liberals version of the Bible.

Huckabee is a sincere Christian person who means well but who is dangerously naive

He "means well" ?? " Meaning well" does not mean acting like a child; irresponsibly and with indiffernce to your culpability.

When you let 1100 criminals out early, some of them certifiably dangerous, you risk a single debacle that will negate all previous good intentions. Why would any one person take that kind of risk unless they think they can paper over the consequences?

There's something wrong about this guy, IMO. Wrong guy for the wrong job.

I'm speaking about all of Huckabee's pardons and commutations, not just the latest that made the news.

Throw the latest one away and it is still very disturbing.

This is the opinion I had during the 2008 GOP Primaries. I had a problem with several candidates, but Huckabee was my absolutely last choice. In addition to being soft on crime, he appeared to not recognize any constitutional limits on the extent to which he could use the government to carry out his idea of compassion. I had termed his views “Compassionate Conservatism” on steroids.

"He’ll split our vote."

He already did. During the 2008 GOP Primaries, his political surge coincided with James Dobson's questioning of whether Fred Thompson was Christian enough. A lot of the votes he got in Iowa and the southern states could easily have went to Thompson. The Thompson campaign had a lot of problems of their own doing, but Huckabee's political surge had a lot to do with killing Fred's campaign.
