GERMAN'S "DER SPIEGEL": "SEARCHING IN VAIN FOR THE OBAMA MAGIC"
THE FREEDOM POST ^ | December 2, 2009 | Matthew Burke

Following are key excerpts from an article today in Der Spiegel, the weekly German magazine, entitled "Searching in Vain for the Obama Magic." The article by Der Spiegel writer, Gabor Steingart, is a scathing commentary of President Obama's Afghanistan speech at West Point on December 1, in which he announced, three months after the request, that additional troops would be sent into battle.

The article does an excellent job of connecting the dots of Obama's deception and contradictions that were spread throughout the speech, in an attempt to calm his peacenik Democrat party, and to somehow appear "deserving" (a joke) of his recent Nobel Peace Prize award (My highlighting)...

Here is an interesting quote:

"Just minutes before the president took the stage inside Eisenhower Hall, the gathered cadets were asked to respond "enthusiastically" to the speech. But it didn't help: The soldiers' reception was cool.

I was watching this on Fox and just as Obama walked to the podium a voice over said something like: "what went wrong with the entrance".

This was an obvious engineering boo boo but whoever said it saw something wrong with the Obama walk-on. Could it be that the "enthusiasm" wasn't quite up to expectations? Could be. Could be.

The only “magic” Obama has ever had is the ability to lie well enough to fool half of the American electorate.

What magic? It was all an illusion from the very beginning.

Oh-Bam the Magic Negro lives by the sea
And frolics in the autumn mist in a world of fantasy.
He hates the stinking White Man and it’s Brits he hates the most
For they pillaged in his Homeland,
Now haunted by African ghosts.

He covets all your riches
To hand out to his friends.
You’re gonna pay through the nose
Just to make amends.

All the little liberals love his magic stuff
Collecting all those taxes,
Which are never enough.
Watching the Magic Negro cut this country down to size
Is their idea of justice.
It’s their biggest prize.

One day they all will find out—
And it will make them sad—
Despite everything they had been taught,
America wasn’t so bad.

I can’t blame Der Spiegal for looking for Obama’s magic.Obama’s doing the same.

The opening paragraph in the original german is a little different, and has a stronger dig at Bush:

Noch nie hat Barack Obama so unwahrhaftig gewirkt wie bei der Verkündung seiner neuen Afghanistan-Strategie. Hier sprach kein Friedensnobelpreisträger - fast klang der US-Präsident wie sein Vorgänger Bush.

The last sentence is, "Here spoke no Nobel Peace Prize winner. The US President almost sounded like his predecessor Bush."

This leans the whole essay to the left by suggesting that Obama's problem is that he strayed from the Path of Peace. In fact the essay is entitled, Der Kriegsnobelpreisträger, "The War Nobel Prize winner". ( You can see this is catchier auf Deutsch. )

Not sure why this was edited the way it is in the english, but it certainly seems purposeful.
