Nuclear Option in Afghanistan- It's Time!
Hogue News ^ | December 1, 2009 | Paul Smith

thought with this administration we were going to get our coalition partners to be on equal footing with us?

Officials in Brussels says Obama will be asking Nato allies to provide up to 10,000 extra troops. Asking? How about a demand… and if you don’t we pull out and you all can fight this stinking war yourselves! The US currently has 68,000 troops in Afghanistan, with foreign forces overall totalling more than 100,000. The additional American soldiers are expected to focus on tackling the Taliban in volatile southern and eastern Afghanistan.

A senior Pentagon official said the new troops will be made up of 9,000 Marines and 21,000 regular soldiers, of which 4,000 will train Afghan security forces. With the Government so currupt, they will just create a better terrorist if you ask me.

An unnamed (aren’t they all?) Nato diplomat told AP news agency on Tuesday that President Obama is asking European members of the military alliance to contribute between 5,000 and 10,000 new troops to Afghanistan. How about matching the 30,000 we are sending in?

My friend, Paul Smith, is running for Congress in Sacramento - against Doris Matsui. He has posted an opinion piece today, ahead of Obama's announcement on Afghanistan. It's a radical title that asks a few questions about our strategy - and footing in other parts of the world.

China has a standing Army over 2 Million. Are they ever gonna pull their weight?

Other countries don't need to contribute, especially when they see the US adding forces, etc. They know we will make the sacrifices, while they watch.

Even some of the foreign forces there don’t pull their weight. They are non-combat only.

Is it possible to use a tactical nuclear warhead without anyone knowing about it, other than those involved ? I mean would it release a signature mushroom cloud visible from space ?

I am all for it. The only fallout I am worried about is the political.

The time to use nukes was in December 2001, at Tora Bora.

It would have been just as good to nuke Kandahar in November 2001, except there would have been more pissing and moaning.

The whole POINT of using nukes is for everybody to know what you did, and that you're ready to do it again.

Four 5 Mt warheads on Tora Bora, when Osama was confirmed to be there, would have accomplished everything we've been fumbling around for the past eight years trying to do, at much less cost.

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

China isn’t part of NATO. To have them in Afghanistan would be like having 10,000 spies and saboteurs among our forces, undercutting them every chance they got.

But I definitely agree that the rest of NATO should start pulling their share of the load.

One reason other countries don’t pull their weight is because our government has a natural renewable resource. It’s called our kids.

What good does it do to have the bomb, if we never use it? Two or three tactical nukes would sanitize an entire region for the next 50 years.

Yeah, and kill hundreds of thousands of little old ladies and babies. Insanity. Bring the troops home and return the proceeds to the taxpayers! We didn't revolt in 1776 to become the modern version of the Assyrian Empire.

Nah. I don't have the $100 million, and, besides, I'd take votes away from Sarah.
