How is it that his head is most definitely darker at what looks to be the collar line?

and yet he appears to be uniformly dark in this 1977 image:

guess he not only faded, but his body shrunk as he aged.

That pic of him on the BB team (in HI) would be consistent with him getting more sun (and probably wearing t-shirt, or shirtless) in the Hawaiian sun.

Remove the regular exposure to the sun, and his skin returns back to the much lighter shade we see in his early childhood pics as well as the contrast in the other pic of him (on the beach in HI?) recently.

He and the boy to his left were photoshopped into this picture. Their jersey’s are different than everyone else’s.
