Here is video of Democrat Rep. David Obey on CNN yesterday where he revealed the way many Democrats feel about sending the reinforcements to Afghanistan requested by Gen. Stanley McChrystal. Obey said he believes it will be a "fool's errand," because we don't have stable enough governments in Afghanistan or Pakistan.
The problem is that you can have the best policy in the world, but if you don't have the tools to implement it, it isn't worth a bean bag. And I don't think we have the tools in the Pakistani government. I don't think we have the tools in the Afghan government, and until we do, I think much of what we do is a fool's errand."This probably explains why Obama has taken four months to decide on the request for reinforcements by McChrystal. He is trying to craft an approach that will fulfill his campaign promise to focus on the War in Afghanistan, but appease many in his own party who basically oppose military action anywhere for any reason. . . . It’s only a “fools errand” if the CIC and American government don’t have any guts, gumption and cojones enough to just simply find and kill enough of the right Islamofascists instead of trying to make nicey nicey with a bunch of backwards lunatics. Don’t call a lawyer and read em their “rights”, just kill em all and let Allah sort em out.
Bring the troops home.
It’s unfair to put their lives in the hands of a CIC who cares more about the other side.
Obey is concerned about “having the tools”?
Maybe he should go there...he is a real tool.
Considering that Obey is a fool, the comment is appropriate.
That’s what was said about Iraq. How many chances does Obey get to be wrong before people stop listening to him?
Congressman Obey is an embarrassment to his skin.
Obey is right considering who is CINC of the armed forces. There is too much talk of exit strategy and too little talk of winning. Therefore the mission is doomed.
BTW—Is there any Republican in Obey’s district who is considering running against this radical leftist? On the map the district does not seem like a hotbed of the radical left.
