The Pathology of Evil in Politics

Do purely evil individuals exist who can hide their true nature from the rest of the world? And are these individuals drawn into politics as a conduit for dominating an unsuspecting and acquiescent populace?

There is a theory that evil is a pathological disorder. The observation that psychopaths, including sociopaths and narcissists, all exhibit chronically evil behavior is a persuasive argument toward that theory. In Andrew M. Lobaczewski's book, Political Ponerology: A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes, the case is made for equating evil and psychosis in the political arena:

Psychopaths are the ones who can sell you (us) the Bridge in Brooklyn. Aptly called, the “confidence man”. They walk and talk their way out of institutions. Usually they are pleasant looking and have high intelligence.

They strive to pass for normal, to fit in with the great unwashed. They’ll say things like:
“I feel your pain.”

Sociopaths’ lack of guilt gives them the appearance of honesty on TV... Might be one of the reasons they’re getting elected in such large numbers.

Any evil that a human being does is a product of choice. A continued progression of choosing evil ends in death.

Government attracts sociopaths as excrement attracts flies. I think that's why there are so many adulterers, fornicators, homosexuals, prevaricators, and tax cheats among politicians. It is probably impractical to "weed them out." The best solution is to severely restrict the power of govt., so as to reduce their ability to parasitize others.

There are some errors in the article. Sociopaths, psychopaths, and narcissists are not psychotic; they don't have delusions or hallucinations.

The ability of sociopaths and narcissists to fake emotions when they want to is of value also in the acting profession, which is probably why leftists abound in Hollyweird.

I like the way the article identified the non-sociopathic camp followers, many of whom suffer from real mental illnesses. I think their number includes people like some of the Code Pink types.
