Seems fantastic, but nothing would shock me with this crowd. Even Bush made the mistake of letting Al-Qaeda run Ramadi(?) in Iraq, but eventually learned his lesson and reversed course. You don’t win an insurgency by ceding whole areas to the enemy.

We’re going to turn those people - the decent Afghanis - who trusted us and risked all over to a bunch of murderous Muslim slime from the 7th century. But that’s ok, because Obama is probably actually jealous of the Taliban and wishes he had that much control and could cause that much fear and despair.

We support the Taliban through the bribes paid by our contractors to pass through the corridors the Taliban and other militias, and bandit bands control.

Contractor = a connected Afghani trucking organization who's on the receiving end of the $400 Million+ or so we spend just to move stuff around the country. Contractor = a relative of someone high up in their government or army.

About 10%- 15% of that goes to the Taliban (and other groups ... militias and just plain bandits) to let the shipments get through.

Why would these people ... any of'em want to make peace when they are making big money on the deal just as it is?

PS: Bribery aside, the Contractors and the paid off folks also still steal ... a lot.

Immigration reform? Seriously, there is little doubt that Obama’s sympathies are with the Muslims. I am also fairly certain he is a Muslim himself. I definitely don’t buy that he is a Christian—his Chicago “Church” was more a poltical organization than a true house of worship. If he partied and drank less, I would bet $$ on it. Of course, that may itself be a “forgivable” sin for helping to bring down the Infidels.

With so many men and women being lost in Afghanistan and NO SUPPORT OR HELP coming from the White House, they are generating a LOT of very angry troops. It must be noted that the troops ere not just angry at the guys in the hills and caves!

This tracks with previous reports here and here from several weeks ago that Obama was looking for a negotiated settlement with the Taliban and was considering which provinces to cede to them.
