Freedom of speech no longer exists.

That is, for conservatives.

The definition of freedom of speech according to Wikipedia: “Is the freedom to speak without censorship and/or limitation.”

But I like the definition I found on Answers.com better: “Liberty to express opinions and ideas without hindrance, and especially without fear of punishment.”

Keyword “fear.”

The "modern" conception of Freedom of Speech includes the Freedom from Certain Speech.

So accept the risks, manage the fear, and act in spite of it. That’s called courage and bravery. The courageous and brave don’t act without fear, that’s called “stupid.” They act DESPITE fear.

Here’s a small example. The following statement will cause some people in the world to want to literally kill me, and could cost me business. Accepted. Islam is an evil death cult, and peaceful mulsims are simply not fully devout. Also, islam is not a race or religion, it is an all-encompassing ideology disguised as religion with the goal of submission by the rest of the world (after all, “submission” is the literal meaning of the word “islam”).

Here’s another: Obama is narcicistic fascist dictator wannabe who sympathizes with devout (more commonly called “radical”) islam.

Scary? Yup. But the more you do it, the easier it gets, and the more will follow you.

That said, talking on a website is a small act. Speaking in person is a larger one. Taking any actual political or public action is an even larger one. Do what you can.
