The largest publisher of newspapers serving the gay and lesbian community in the US has shut down.
Laura Douglas-Brown, editor of Southern Voice newspaper in Atlanta, said she arrived at work today to find the locks changed and a note saying parent company Window Media LLC had closed down.UKGuardian
"Window Media long provided a very special outlet for the gay community to learn about itself way before there were a lot of other places to find that type of thing," said Michael Musto, an openly gay writer for the Village Voice in New York, which is owned by Village Voice Media Holdings. "This was the gay community writing about itself, and that's a voice we should never lose."

Nobody is saying it is good or bad but it happens a lot. Management tries to keep things alive and eventually the bank or someone calls and says it is over.
It is no fun but it beats a situation where the employees work for weeks with no pay and it fails.
I have a really hard time believing that management didn’t know on Friday there would be locks on the door the following Monday....I suspect they’ve known for several weeks.
Good.
It appears the employees worked for some period of time without getting paid. How many companies these days issue a check on Friday for the week just worked ?
And, it’s likely that in time, as bankruptcy proceedings work their way thru the system, the employees will see some of the pay due to them, but some advance notice or warning would have been the decent thing to do, that’s all. Instead, it seems, they led the employees to believe the company would be sold and their paychecks continued
I am a self-employed entrepreneur type, but most people can’t handle that kind of risk. They take jobs so they know that every Friday or twice a month, or whatever, they WILL get a paycheck. Being committed to some payments like mortgages, cars, kids tuition, etc. based on a certain salary and then having that salary terminated without notice has to be earthshattering to those people, and I do feel for them.
I do not disagree. It is wrong but it happens. I have seen it happen and thank God I was never responsible for something like that. I would close down before it got this bad.
This was a gay mag and I would guess they were probably all libs and they voted for this. I would guess a lot of the content of these magazines dealt with topic matter essentially on the most effective method of spreading and trasmitting viruses and bacteria. A female I know who is socially liberal but a Christian worked with a gay man who told her everything about the lifestyle. She is no shrinking violet but she was horrified. She said prayed her sons would never end up gay.
Actions have consequences and these people probably voted for Obama. Actions also include Newt Gingrich and Dede sabotaging NY-23 which is going to hurt all of us very badly. I knew Obama would be a catastrophic nightmare.
I was in a business meeting the other day and someone started on Bush. He suffered from what I call OVGS or Obama Voter Guilt Syndrome. He realizes by voting for O he made a horrible error but he attacks Bush to assauge his deep seated guilt. A woman shut him up but I was ready to get into it with him.
I saw this tonight or the nightmare of Obama. A attractive younger woman was out walking the streets. I never saw that under Bush. It really upset me but I am not going to be Travis Bickle (DeNiro) in Taxi Driver and try to talk her out of it. People are very desparate.
Before and after Obama was elected the economy practically stopped. It is not getting any better. You also have Atlas shrugging where people with money will not support the Obama economy.
That is the argument that they will make. As homosexuality is "main-streamed" the perversion can now be found in regular magazines.
I subscribe to "This Old House" magazine and noted, for the first time, that the last two issues featured home projects of admitted homosexual couples - two men and two women. This is their biggest wet dream; not "marriage", but the mainstreaming of their perverted values.
I'll be canceling my subscription, and they are going to know why.
