The largest publisher of newspapers serving the gay and lesbian community in the US has shut down.
Laura Douglas-Brown, editor of Southern Voice newspaper in Atlanta, said she arrived at work today to find the locks changed and a note saying parent company Window Media LLC had closed down.UKGuardian
"Window Media long provided a very special outlet for the gay community to learn about itself way before there were a lot of other places to find that type of thing," said Michael Musto, an openly gay writer for the Village Voice in New York, which is owned by Village Voice Media Holdings. "This was the gay community writing about itself, and that's a voice we should never lose."

Who needs a gay newspaper?
They fill all MSM newsrooms, anchor spots, newspaper staffs, writers, editors, reporters, all Hollywood TV shows and motion pics, all entertainment mags, and Madison Ave.
Leaving everything else aside, that’s no way to treat employees.
I thought the New York Times was the largest gay newspaper?

Obama Says A Baby Is A Punishment
Obama: If they make a mistake, I dont want them punished with a baby.
Well, I guess that proves gays are really only 2 % of the population instead of the 10 % lie we have been told .
Even the not so mainstream media is suffering.
Gives new meaning to “getting shafted”.
Several years ago I heard rumors one day at work and the next day the doors were locked and lights were out when I got to the office.
Good catch.
Barney will find them some ‘stimulus’ money......
Sorry you had to go through that. By the time management and the finance team get to a shut down, they have had plenty of time to at least warn employees and let them know the options before them. I just think it’s an atrocious management practice, which I guess helped get them to the shut down to begin with.
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Why don’t they put Levi Johnston on the front page?
That should sell some papers. sarc/
Dang......I thought that segment was so large that nothing could fail
selling ad space to only one client - KY Jelly - can only take a newspaper so far.....
Corporate media will continue to shoot themselves in the foot by relying on archaic ‘rate cards’ and expecting the majority of revenue to come knocking at their door. They do not want, nor intend to, create relationships with their advertisers, and instead just view it as a revenue stream.
The advertising money is out there, advertisers are wanting to advertise, just look at your local independent newspaper in your town, and how many ads there are compared to the local corporate publication.
