Readers of this blog know I have long admired from afar the activities of the New Hampshire "Free Staters".
One of the best ideas they have had is an emergency communications network dubbed Porcupine 411.
Now I learn they want to spread their idea nationwide. God Bless them!

unfortunately most police scanner frequencies are scrambled so there is not a lot of info for public consumption
Sounds like a good idea but not yet very resilient and easily shutdown by the New King.
Better bet: call your own answering machine (remember those?) or computer - set recording time to unlimited and you can retrieve / archive at your option. Plus, you are only recording your call with yourself (anything else is just ‘background noise.’ fairly defensible in court in ‘two-party’ states. For communication: forget digital unless sending over an analog system (for example a phone to ham or phone to CB (remember those?) bridge.
