The Iraqi Special Operations Force (ISOF) is still organized and configured as reported in June. However, it appears that the ISOF is starting to form eight light armored special forces battalions. The integration of Federal Police elements into the Counter Terrorism Bureau also appears to be starting.

SOCOM PING
I do not discuss that era much.
Knowing and willing compromize is still a felony even after you retire. You can be recalled to active duty for a court marshal. My last access was in 2003, so I write about post-2003...
Not everything has been declassified.
Which means you have a strong GI-GO factor of assumptions and finger-pointing clouding the issue.
But there is a consensus, and a mission so public that failed, can be discussed at many levels 30 years later, especially when we can read the books of the various commanders.
It has been more than a quarter century since the leader himself published his own book revealing so many of his thoughts and actions.
At this late date, much can be discussed and alluded to without revealing still classified secrets.
I will say something funny though about Beckwith, when I talked to him about the mission while we at Hurlbert field, I noticed that everything that he said, every single word was directly from his book, you could get voice inflections and facial expressions from him but you were not about to get him to reveal some unvetted nugget that was not ready for release, at least that was my impression.
“...but you were not about to get him to reveal some unvetted nugget that was not ready for release,...”
Yup.
Which is what I mean by GI-GO factor.
Small details can make all the difference and not all is declassified.
Everyone directly involved will be dead before that classification seal lifts...
But on Eagle Claw general opinions can be given, especially in your case for an event that took place before you were in the military and where so many of the principals have published their books. Your silence seems to imply that you have secret knowledge that makes it impossible for you to even offer simple opinions within the confines of the published books.
The maharaji of secrecy himself could talk about Desert 1 within the confines of popular books and 30 years of public discussion and analysis especially when all it involves is a few quick casual sentences or a few paragraphs on a simple thread.
My access was at SCI levels.
I have read the actual after-actions as opposed to the unclas books.
You have a strong GI-GO factor in the unclas side...
You need to lighten up a little, you are being so cryptic and dramatic that it isn’t working.
Lets put it this way: The debates on the other thread was over which unclassified piece of fiction they want to believe in.
The declass date on those AARs was a 50 year one.
Sufficient time to ensure all the main players were dead before releasing to the historians.
That means 20 more years until the real-world is released.
And that is about as far as I can go on that subject...
Great thread, thanks for the self important nonsense.
The only reason that I know about those AARs and that they are not releasable until 2030 is I got stuck with the inventory when CMEF cross-decked from La Salle to Coranado in Feb 88.
The self-important ones are the ID-10Ts that think they know what happened based on what is in public. That is especially true since they will not know the full story for another 20 years...
For Gods sake, you must be the worlds most vain man on earth, no one cares.
Look in the mirror when you say that.
You are the one that opened this OT thread at comment 3...
What does your opinion or beliefs about Desert One have to do with current and future developments in the Iraqi Special Operations Forces?
Goodby troll.
LOL, It turns out that you are simply ignorant of Eagle Claw, it would have been less embarrassing for you if you had said so.
1. Operation Eagle Claw, commonly referred to as Desert One is not the subject of this post. That makes your BS since comment 3 a hijack thread.
2. I know more about it than you do judging from your writings. But, I do not write about matters from when I was read in. I write about matters post-20030502 when I was last debriefed to avoid the security czars.
3. Look up the USS La Salle (AGF3) and COMIDEASTFOR.
Yes, they still had the AARs from that operation when CMEF cross-decked in Feb88.
Yes, I got stuck inventoring those items as well as the rest of the classified mess we shifted.
Yes, that gave me the oportunity to read them.
Yes, they are still classified.
Which means that your beliefs in what happened are colored by GIGO.
I have yet to see an unclas version that fits reality.
The fiction from 1979-1980 is worse than the US history books take on the last year of the Iran-Iraq War...
What a punk you turned out to be. With all your posturing, you turned out to be nothing.
Too bad you didn’t see this:

It would have saved me the bother of dealing with an id10t troll.
He does not seem to be able to comprehend that “knowing and willing disclosure of classified information” is a felony.
Until all the nit-picking details and background on that operation are declassified, any public debate will be speculative fiction. “The devil is in the details.”
There are very good reasons why the history books are re-written every decade. It is not all revisionist propaganda. Sometimes, it is newly released data...
