My grandfather was one generation removed from germany and served in europe.
We had Japanese-Americans in the army, but put them in the European theater.
Hitler’s brother was in the US Navy...in the Pacific theater, I believe.
I know what you’re saying though, and I agree.
And we had Japanese
Actually, we probably did have Germans in the US Army. Japanese too.
But we didn’t have any Nazis in the US Army.
There were a mumber of native Germans who served in the US military in WW2. The most famous was Henry Kissinger (OK, he was Jewish, but still German).
Seeing that the US population in some states was almost 1/3 - 1/2 German, it’s a good bet.
Ah yes... French Surrender Monkeys.
I think some are missing the larger picture here. No one is advocating banning Arabs from military service, but Muslims on the other hand is a political ideology as well as a religion. They do not believe in separation of church and state.

The US had interment camps for the German and Japanese in the WWII. I don’t think that’s a good idea, though. Conservatives fight for color-blind policy, both positive (against affirmative action) or negative (against discrimination) versions.

You point is taken, though.
The japanese who served were desperate to prove that they were loyal Americans, and they served heroically.
We’ve lost the ability to tell the difference between people who love America, and people who hate it. You’re not allowed to notice that the haters hate us. “Are you impugning their patriotism?” Yes, I am.
Why didn’t anyone take notice of the fact that this guy hated America? They didn’t want to single him out as a muslim? Fine, I get that. How about singling him out as a guy who hated America, and wanted the jihadists to win? How about singling him out as a freak who got excited when a maniac attacked an American recruiting station?
My family is part German. I had a great uncle who was killed when his boat carrying supplies to Russia from the U.S. was sunk by a German U-Boat.
You are confused. Ethnicity or ancestry has much less of a tie on someone’s loyalties than their religion. Islam is a religion, a belief system, independent of someone’s genetics and ancestry. Look at the wannabe white terrorists who have taken Muslim names as an example of the flaw in your rant.
Have you been to Arlington Cemetery? I have. When I last went, I saw a number of Muslim symbols carved on the graves of young men who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. If I remember the section, I would tell you. I was surprised to see these symbols. I am not saying there were hundreds but there were enough to make me remember.
An extremist religion did not kill these young men yesterday. A crazed gunman, who should not have been serving and should have been removed from service, did.
Just saying.
Sure we had Germans in the US Army. They just were not running around giving the Fascist salute and trying to persuade their fellow soldiers to become Nazis.
We also had a media that was generally on our side of the conflict.
