Unlike Maj Hasan, CPL Khan was not wearing Arabic clothing, handing out Korans, and giving away his furniture while stationed stateside.

But you would still bar him from serving.

Thank you for your explanation. That was then, this is now. Considering what has happened so frequently, possibly this is the time to institute a more sophisticated system of protection.

Rational thought isn't terribly welcome these days...

Now if you post something emotionally reactionary, then you get support.

LOL! I figured I would get flamed, but facts is facts!

Note that I DIDN'T object to the idea of keeping them out of the country in the first place. Can't base exclusion on religion, but on the fact that they come from countries hostile to the US.

Explain why post 34 isn’t rational.

I wouldn’t call it irrational, but I would call it incomplete.

The poster makes a plain caveat at the beginning:

“Full Disclosure: My knowledge of Islam is rather basic.”

Thats not "irrational".

The poster makes a very important point. Perhaps you can fill in where its lacking.

I did not say it was irrational. I even said I wouldn’t call it irrational.

I say it’s incomplete.

The vast majority of post on this thread are pretty irrational though.

Pretty much as a rule ‘Ban/deport/outlaw all this/that/other’ statements are rarely well thought.

So you don’t see a problem allowing people in that hold beliefs diametrically opposed to the ones they’re supposed to be defending. Now that’s rational! If you live in a liberal utopia that is.

What else should Muslims (by implication, all Muslims) be banned from? Are you going to draw a line for us?

“So you don’t see a problem allowing people in that hold beliefs diametrically opposed to the ones they’re supposed to be defending.”

Now just where did I say that?

Americans will draw the lines on their own when they realize the leaders are paralyzed by PC.

It’s easy to see that if a Nazi walked up to you and said “Oh I don’t believe all that stuff Hitler talked about, I just wave the flag and carry the book around” you’d believe that person without a second thought. Feel free to keep your head in the sand, but you’re only putting your own life in danger by being naive.

This crazy cult should not allowed in the United States. Frankly, I think they should be shipped out! Every damn one of them.

While they're waiting for their transportation, do you think they should be required by law to wear a Crescent and Star on their outermost garments ... you know, just so we can recognize and avoid them?

Of course, there's the problem of defining whether or not somebody is Muslim .... Perhaps we could say they're Muslim if any grandparent or parent is Muslim.

While we're at it ... do you think maybe their assets should be confiscated, too?

And then there's the problem of those who don't really want to leave -- because they're American citizens, say. They should be rounded up, of course, and treated as harshly as necessary.

Oh you’ve danced around it quite a bit, but for some reason you seem too afraid to stake a clear position on the issue. Now’s your chance. Of course it’s easier to continue dancing than it is to stake a position you would have to defend.

What a cop out. Here you're drawing big, bold lines about Muslims, but you won't presume to tell us where you would draw the line for real.

I'd really like to see where you'd put it. Not that you'd go all Nazi on us, of course ... but I'm betting you'd draw it somewhere on the other side of free exercise of religion ('cause you already have...)

Know Islam, No peace

No Islam, Know peace.

How hard is that to understand ?

Allright. I'll take a clear position.

You are reading your own assumptions and prejudices into my statements.

How's that?

False. Nice try though. Common sense dictates you don't allow enemies into your own military. Islam is not a religion. It is a cult comprised of religious, political, and military parts. Taken as a system, if adhered to, is diametrically opposed to our way of life. Do we allow professed Nazis to advance through our military? Well, do we?

That’s what I thought. Too scared to make a stand either way. It’s easier to act “above the fray” like a moderate than it is to actually make a decision and defend it.

Oh, I’ve made a decision.

If I choose not to present it on an internet thread that is populated largely by knee-jerk emotional reactions, well I really don’t think that speaks terribly badly of me.
