Barack Obama's Stupid JOBS-SAVED Tricks
Huffington Post/The Lid ^ | 11/4/09 | The Lid

When President Obama started backpedaling on the number of Jobs his economic stimulus would create he started using the bogus term "Saved or created." This is how William McGurn described the term for the Wall Street Journal:

"To begin with, the number is pure fiction -- the administration has no way to measure how many jobs are actually being 'saved.' And if we had tried to use something this flimsy, the press would never have let us get away with it." “How do you know what a saved job is? How do you know what jobs would have been lost without this?” Davis said. “That was a clever political gimmick to make it even harder to determine whether this policy has any effect.”

Today the AP released a report that moved Job Saved from the ridiculous to the really comical. For example the Georgia Community Action Council which claims that 935 jobs were saved, impressive if true, but it can't be true because only 508 people work there.

Democrats do not allow facts to get in the way of their understanding of reality or the presentation of their message.

How about subtracting JOBS LOST DIRECTLY BY OBAMA from this count? There for are massive layoffs announced for the space program. It is the end of Apollo all over again. Might as well have dropped a nuke on Cape Canaveral.

If the BIG government got its marxist hands out of it, the American people would take care of the problem.

The last thing they need to hear about is more taxes and government intervention.

The Obama welfare role has to stop!!

I drove to work today, and did not have an accident; so if I didn’t kill anyone - I must have saved several lives.

Corzine “saved” 650,000 votes. How’d that work out for him?

“At Southwest Georgia Community Action Council in Moultrie, Ga., director Myrtis Mulkey-Ndawula said she followed the guidelines the Obama administration provided. She said she multiplied the 508 employees by 1.84 – the percentage pay raise they received – and came up with 935 jobs saved.”

Assuming SGCAC gave its employees a 1.84% raise rather than a 184% raise, this dimwit apparently never learned 5th grade math. This resulted in a 100-fold difference between the number she should have reported and the number actually submitted. What’s more bizarre, no one (least of all the Obama administration) corrected her error. She herself was so clueless about it that she freely explained her buffoonish calculation to a news reporter! You can’t make up stupidity of this magnitude: it is from this same pool of morons that ACORN draws its staff and leadership.

The sad part is that the sheep out there actually believe this crap.

First off: 508 * 1.84% is not 935, it's 9.35. This is elementary school math, people!!!

Second: given a fixed amount of money, if I use some of it to give a raise, I have that much LESS money to be able to hire someone else. So, isn't it more accurate to conclude that 9.35 people that otherwise might have been hired were denied a job because they used the stimulus money for raises?!?!

These are the same people that think that raising the minimum wage creates wealth. Let's just raise the minimum wage to $1000 an hour so we can all get rich!

You beat me to the punch, DrC.

I think you give them too much credit, though. Long division was 4th grade, and I'm sure that percentages came before that!
