CA 10: Less Attention On That 'Other' Special House Race
NPR Blogs ^ | 11:04 am - October 28, 2009 | Ken Rudin

Political junkies everywhere are glued to what's going on in New York's 23rd congressional district, that upstate special election for a seat that hasn't gone Democratic since there has been a Republican Party. But the GOP candidate there is in real jeopardy, and in fact some speculate that she could finish third in a field of three. (See yesterday's post.)

Less attention -- far less attention -- is being placed on the other special congressional election that will be decided on Tuesday. That's in California's 10th District, necessitated when Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D) resigned to take a post in the State Department.

This is from NPR. No surprise that this guy is picking Garamendi in this race.

However, at the debate the other night, Harmer’s supporters outnumbered Garamendi supporters by a wide margin.

John Fund has also called this race a potential upset. There is a definite anti-Obama, anti-Democrat feeling in the air, and conservatives could be more motivated in this special election.

Garamendi has called in Bill Clinton and Obama for campaign appearances. They must think he is in a close race, or they wouldn’t be calling in the big guns.

What is nearly criminal is that the NRCC is sitting this race out. They are pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars, plus personnel into the upstate New York race supporting a loser. But out in CA, where they have a chance to flip a seat from a Democrat to a Republican, they are ignoring the race entirely.

I support David Harmer for California’s 10th Congressional District (donations). He is a conservative candidate who has been a fellow at the Heritage Foundation and the Cato institute. He is committed to controlling spending, promoting economic growth, and free market solutions to todays problems.

I am also contacting the NRCC to ask why they are supporting Scozzafava in the race in upstate New York, and why they are ignoring David Harmer in this close race in California’s 10th district. Here are the numbers if anyone else wants to call:

Info from the NRCC "contact us" web page:

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

I just sent $20 to Harmer. We need to elect conservatives.

I hope so!

Seriously. It's not like one extra Dem in the house is going to decide anything, so I'm prepared to hand it over to the Democrats rather than a RINO.

It'd be a lot harder to get the RINO out in next year's primary if she won now.

Gee, I’m not surprised that the Contra Costa Times supports and endorses Garamendi, but I’m surprised that they burden Garamendi with the faint praise about his experience as Lt. Governor in California. Anyone who has been in the leadership of this failed state should be invited to leave any role in governing. Are the people of California complete idiots, re-electing or elevating the people responsible for the disaster that IS Calfornia?

I just sent the money for another dinner with my wife to Harmer. Earlier this week, did the same with Hoffman.
