Course I expect the Dems would always be against this seeing as most of their voters are too thick to even figure how to register for a vote let alone where to vote on the paper.

Yep. There was a story last week where one town tried to remove the R and D and the DNC sued to have it put back on because they figured that their base was too stupid to vote for the Rat nominee.

“Ugh, I can’t stand Mark Davis and don’t understand why Rush has him sub for him.”

I agree. I live in Dallas, and turned him off years ago. As a talkshow host, he is a moron. I have NEVER understood why Rush has him guest-host. Let’s email Rush in protest.

Rush used to have Roger Hedgecock in, and he was great in my opinion.

So much so that I subscribe to his FREE podcast.

“”For those of us in the DFW market it is apparent that Davis day by day is more into himself and of course knows more than anyone else. Frankly he can be a real pain in the a$$ with his know it all attitudes!

Amen. He has been arrogant and full of him self for YEARS!!! AND YEAR!!! I live in DFW.

It REALLY grates me when he lectures the audience, as apparently he has done again today.

Jerk.

The real victory in this election would be the shot over the bow that couldn’t be ignored by the RNC and the RINOS.
No matter how the election turns out, it would FORCE the RNC/RINOS to acknowledge the Conservative base.
I do not advocate political suicide to prove a point in the 2010 elections, but this particular election could be VERY beneficial to true Conservatives in our party.

Rush has always followed the same thinking, at least until recently. I have never heard Rush seriously put principles above party. Not that I have listened to him much in the last couple of years. Maybe he has changed his tune. I know he detested McCain. Maybe that turned him around.

>I’ve been looking for the Rush thread to ask if any others hate Davis as much as I do.<

Hate is such a strong word. I don’t hate HIM. I hate his STUPIDITY and the way he hosts the show. He is terrible, and always has been.

In all fairness, I think Davis is trying to generate a conversation among Rush's listeners to gauge the mood of conservatives as regards the GOP.

The NY-23 situation is an unusual one, in that it's an open seat where the Republican candidate might just be more liberal than the Democrat. For that reason, a conservative alternative (Doug Hoffman) has emerged, and rather more strongly than one would otherwise expect.

If the Republican Party insists on supporting liberals who will surely vote with Democrats on most issues - then what the hell is the point of having an opposition?

It's one thing to allow for a big enough "tent" so as to build a political majority - it's another to abandon principle to expediency. But first, a viable party needs to decide what those principles are - the ones that define it, and without which - it ought not need exist.

The national GOP is a mess right now and at odds with its base because it refuses to perform this one simple task - define yourself. Then, and only then, ask people if they want to join.

There are going to be cases, especially in the liberal Northeast where GOP candidates will be less conservative, particularly on social issues than others. That can be acceptable if - if - they nonetheless support the core issues as defined by the party platform. May I suggest: free enterprise, limited government, low taxes, strong national defense, secure borders, and a respect for human life.

If Republicans ask me, as a conservative to vote for someone who does not believe in one or more of those things simply because that person has an "R" after their name, I'll decline and seek someone who does believe them. I'm not that desperate.

The DUMB logic in electing her to get another Republican in the Congress... WHAT IS THERE TO STOP HER FROM JUMPING SHIP AFTER ELECTED AND BECOMING A DEMOCRAT LIKE JIM JEFFORDS DID?

Didn’t Rush used to let Chris Matthews even sub?

>> Rush used to have Roger Hedgecock in, and he was great in my opinion <<

Roger now has his own national show, as does another of Rush’s former subs, Jason Lewis. I think both were excellent when they filled in for Rush.

But it seems that once a substitute host goes national, the EIB Network simply won’t use him again. Bad in the case of former sub Roger H. But very good in the case of former sub Chris Matthews!

Also too bad that Rush never lets James Golden sit in for him. James was excellent years ago when he had a Sunday night slot on WABC 870.

DITTO! Thank goodness I have my internet radio and I am tuned into Fred Thompson. I like him pretty well but Rush wins out. Not when Davis is subbing.

He did a couple of times, but that was quite a long time ago. Matthews has lost his mind.

Davis used to have a national show but I don’t think he made it, no surprise.
