Newt hints at 2012 presidential bid (with video)

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) on Sunday offered one of the strongest hints yet that he will run for the nation's highest office in 2012.

Gingrich said that he will begin seriously considering the possibility in about 15 months.

"Callista and I are going to think about this in February 2011. And we are going to reach out to all of our friends around the country," he said on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" this morning. "We'll decide, if there's a requirement as citizens that we run, I suspect we probably will. And if there's not a requirement, if other people have filled the vacuum, I suspect we won't."

Many political observers have tabbed former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) as a presidential hopeful in past election cycles. Critics say that the leader of the 1994 Republican Revolution will not run because of his tumultuous personal life; he has been married three times and engaged in an extramarital affair during Bill Clinton's impeachment.

Great. He can have Scazzawhatshername from New York as his running-mate.

Newt talks a great game but is fundamentally unaccomplished. Sound familiar?

We don’t need another amoral, smooth-talking empty suit in the White House.

Sorry Newt, your time for leadership is long passed.

You can still be valuable SUPPORTING the leading Conservatives but your choices as a moderate have destroyed your credibility in Conservative circles.

Gingrich would be a better candidate than anyone on the democrat ticket. Don’t start the character assassination against the ideologically impure—I’d like to win in ‘12.

Newt’s a quitter. He can stay on the cable news analyst circuit, but he can stay out of Presidential politics.

Newt, you can help by conjuring visions, analyzing, coming up with ideas.

Although, that was a pretty bad call in NY 23. Caught flatfooted, weren't you, because of your own wishful thinking about where the GOP is headed.

But you are way too erratic to serve in office.

I give you credit for the historic year of 94. It wouldn't have happened without you. But I can't support you for national office.

Hey Newt - why don’t you and “Callista” get lost.

I heard his nonsense on Hannity radio one night and he always mentions Callista. She sounds like an Eva Peron wannabe.

Newt, I was a great fan of yours and of the Contract with America in 1994.

Since then, you’ve dumped your wife and played fast and loose with conservative principles. Expediency has replaced commitment.

No vote from me.
