It's hard to put into a box just who is supporting Dede Scozzafava in New York's 23rd special election and who is supporting Doug Hoffman in the same. At first, I thought it was the so called establishment supporting Scozzafava and those on the outside looking in supporting Hoffman. Yet, how do you explain the likes of Rick Santorum and Michelle Bachmann supporting Hoffman? I thought it was the conservatives in support of Hoffman and party loyalists in support of Scozzafava? How do you explain Newt Gingrich supporting Scozzafava?

“I thought it was the conservatives in support of Hoffman and party loyalists in support of Scozzafava? How do you explain Newt Gingrich supporting Scozzafava?”
How do you explain Gingrich doing global warming TV ads with Nancy Pelosi? Answer: Gingrich is an unprincipled opportunist, not a conservative.

When Newt sat on that couch with Princess Nancy, he jumped the shark.
Hey, maybe we can make that a new political term! When a politician loses all relevance does something batsh!t crazy, we can call it “sitting on the couch”.
Easy question. Newdull brain is a 'left of center' worthless politician who belongs in the dustbin of history.
His doom was sealed when he posed with Nutsy Pelousy in a bi-partisan gorebal warming bit.
Ahhh but Newt is an idiot. He is lost in the OBAMA illusion that appearance politics will continue to trump the politics of principle. As the saying goes he is past his time, a danger to the conservative resurrection, and he should move on to the RINO graveyard until he can rediscover that “conservative principle matters over party identity”.
A defining moment for the GOP — but the voters of NY-23 need to show the GOP which end is up. If those voters choose the RINO, then the GOP will receive a very bad message, and our future will look very dim.
Anyone got an email address for knewt (as in past past tense)?
I believe you are right. Newt’s problem I think is that he doesn’t understand that just because a strategy seems to work such as the Democrats running more moderate candidates in order to get elected doesn’t mean it is the right strategy. The idea that the conservative Republican strategy should be to deceive voters and mask or water down the message of individual sovereignity and liberty till it means nothing is a useless one. How do you educate young people to the cause and to have conviction to the founding principles of this nation if one does not articulate them boldly and clearly?
Newt has become more and more a strange fellow. It pains me to say that and though he helped lead a conservative charge on some issues he has really dropped the ball with this NY 23 race. There is absolutely no benefit to electing non conservative Republicans. They don’t vote with us on the important votes, they criticize us first and get down on their political knees and give lip service to the opposition party. We aren’t served at all except to blur what we need to be clear and that is the absolute difference between the socialist would be third world dictator and his party of hedonist socialist thugs and us a party of freemen and woman who aren’t looking for pappy sam to take care of us.
the race comes down to Hoffman and the democrat. The RINO isn’t going to win.
Democrat wins
RINO second
Hoffman third
GOP becomes even more convinced that Conservatives hurt the party.
I sent Hoffman money this morning.
I’m fed up with pretending that (R) is the only answer for conservatism!
Conservatives should use this opportunity to send RINOs a message!
Just google “NY 23rd Hoffman”.
I like that!
NOT SO!
In fact I have yet to see any "official" (cuz there ain't none) "Tea Party" endorsement--only some Tea Party individuals and participants!
Meanwhile, if Scozzafava loses, what does that do the Republican establishment. If Scozzafava loses then the Republican establishment has no credibility electorally. If a candidate beats their candidate and they do it using all outside resources then the Republican establishment has little electoral power. If that's the case, what is the future of the party at large? If the Tea Party movement becomes the driving force in the Republican Party how will that transform the party? Those are all questions that remain unanswered but they'll need to be asked because of the dynamic of New York's 23rd.
Well, Yes and Yes!
If Doug wins (AND WHY WE SHOULD ALL CONTRIBUTE) it WILL send a message and a shot across the bow of the Inside the Beltway Establishment and RINO's and it WILL strengthen those of us who are sick and tired and are not going to take it any more!!!
Does anyone here support voting for the RINO?
I got an email this morning from Our Country Deserves Better of the Tea Party Express. You have a heads we will tails you lose view. That’s not how politics works. The Tea Parties are absolutely backing Hoffman and if he loses the Tea Parties lose. That’s how politics works. If he wins they win, that’s also how politics works.
Your whole premise is wrong. The strategy of picking moderates doesn't work, it has failed, it failed in 2006, 2008 and in other years before that. The GOP doesn't see that, and they don't want to see it. Running conservatives wins elections, pure and simple. I believe that Hoffman will win, especially now with Bachmand and Palin's support.
I don’t believe picking moderates ultimately works and it really hasn’t worked in practice for the Democrats even. They may have won seats and power but they are even more exposed than ever before. I want Hoffman to win.
