NO on 2C (6 mils increase in property tax) and FOR issue 300 (So they can’t make taxes “fees” when we vote them out and support for TABOR- Tax Payers Bill of Rights)
>>Mr. Bruces little experiment has left the city in a
>>serious fiscal crisis
No Ralph, {Ill call you Ralph}, the roots of the citys serious financial crisis are thus:
The rotten foundation beneath prop 2c can be seen right here in the words of Assistant City Manager Mike Anderson regarding the USOC debacle:
In other words, we cant issue the COPs and we are all screwed unless the 16 million dollar issue is resolved!
http://csbj.com/2009/05/01/only-truth-in-usoc-building-debacle-%e2%80%98we-are-all-screwed%e2%80%99/
Rut Roh!, fire up the smoke and mirrors because...
City of Colorado Springs cant find data used to justify USOC deal

So, it only takes common sense to observe the self-evident truth that 2c is nothing but an a$$-covering facade by the citys corrupt managerial syndicate.
2c is City Council and Lionel Riveras way of saying Give us wall-paper to cover A$$ or we burn down city...
But then, as we've observed in the past, "Ralph", observation and common sense aren't your forte.... did you figure out which way the Arkansas River flows yet?
That is exactly why the levy is 6 mils.
We will NOT degenerate to “liberal filth” having never voted for a Dem for Pres since I’ve been alive in El Paso County...not that it has to do with our fine military here!
Agreed....Why would we spend money to administrate paying ourselves?
"Gallagher is calling on everyday citizens to show up in droves at the citys annual budget hearing next week for a so-called tea party."
>>not that it has to do with our fine military here!
Observe Mayor Rivera(R)
Quack, Waddle - Liberal RINO filth HE doth appear to be.
How’s Comrade Captain Rivera’s association with UBS working out these days?
The city buys everything around here because it turns out to be profitable to do so. Biggest income earner in CS is Memorial Hospital without any doubt about it. Don’t let park scenes and dogs pissing on things cloud your mind. We should support our right to approve taxation and to close the loopholes that they use to get their taxes in “fees” instead. I don’t think anyone wants to bring down the city, so when they manage thier way out of the hole that they put themselves into, we’ll give them the money....with all due respect.
Lionel is probably on his way out. Too scandalous with the LandCo problems.
>>well give them the money....with all due respect.
Yep.
If they ask for money specifically for Police, fine.
If they ask for money specifically for Firemen, fine.
If they ask for money specifically for Parks... maybe.
But when they ask for money for their “General Fund”; and do so via the extortive threat of “We’ll cut safety and parks” - NO SALE!
Especially when much of the city’s present predicament can be traced to its addiction to fees associated with uncontrolled growth; the height of which was during the Sub-Prime expansion.
CHAAAAAAARGE IT! HOUSING NEEEEEVER GOES DOWWWWWN!
Sound familiar?
Now they want those of us who worked hard, saved, and were smart enough not to be in debt... to fork over our milk and apples?
Nope, not gonna do it. Wouldn’t be prudent at this juncture.
NO MORE PLASTIC FOR YOU, city council! ;’p
Well put....the credit card is over the limit I’m afraid. Don’t bail’em out. They will get out of it some day. Parks get lots of GoColorado funding. They shut the water off to get “high visibility” as we say in gubmint work.
If he went from the “Downtowner’s Club” to the “Las Vegas Club”, it would be a long ride indeed.

>>They shut the water off [in the parks]
Fine with me. I have a Camelback and plan ahead. Plus the lack of facilities tends to discourage camping in the parks by homeless folks.
There has been some pretty “shifty stuff” going around here. So I hold the feet to the fire. I was here when Academy Blvd. was a dirt road. What a great city...especially not worth trashing!
“Especially when much of the citys present predicament can be traced to its addiction to fees associated with uncontrolled growth; the height of which was during the Sub-Prime expansion.”
Uncontrolled growth, a product of the 70s when we put a moratoreum on natural gas to stop building permits because the city couldn’t provide services due to the growth. Especially Police, Fire, and utilities.
Ahh, very nice.
>>Developers spent over $100,000 to scare voters.
Multi-Family community developers, per chance?
One of those on the City Council, IIRC... ah yes...

Im sure thats just a coinkidink/s
BTW, the reputation of C.S. municipal corruption is apparently well known... at least it was among the small circle of LEO friends my father used to inhabit up in Denver.
The cities, counties and states have to pay for those lottery style tax funded government retirement pensions and those government benefits...
These local governments don't care if you're taxed into the gutter...They need your money for their lucrative retirement pensions.
Pay up!
