Gotta get caught up here! lol

BWWWWWWWWHAAAAAAAA!!!(regarding my avgas story)
Sweet Jesus that's so funny I cant stand it!!!!!!!!

Oh I got some stories from what we called the 'LTSRA' (Little Tavern Street Racing Association) in suburban Montgomery County Maryland, there used to be an active (and somewhat responsible) street racing fraternity on the streets in that area, usually heading out to what we called the 'Rt 32 Drag-A-Way' (Maryland State Route 32 lol) or 'Zion Road' off of State Route 108, and there was always that strip of Viers Mill Road right there in Wheaton Maryland, from the top of the hill where the Hot Shoppes (Mariott) Drive In used to be, down to the merge with Georgia Avenue, there was a traffic light at the bottom of the hill at Little Tavern (burger joint, yum!) so when it hit 'green' it was almost as good as a Christmas tree at a legitimate NHRA-sanctioned racetrack, lol

And the cars, ohhhhh my the cars. I was in a FoMoCo product back then, a '63 Ford Galaxie (fastback of course) and as I like to say, Picard had the 'Stargazer' (as his original vessel), Kirk had the Enterprise, and yours truly had the 'Galaxie', :)

Oh, btw, that story about you and Dem Guard and the diesel fuel? LMAO! I can picture that, we had a guy named Lenny who used to talk about his own gas station "Lenny's Texaco" and we figured maybe his old man owned a station, and one night a couple guys and I were short of fuel funds, so we saw Lenny and said "Lenny? Take us to your Texaco man!" so he was happy to oblige, and we ended up behind the P.J. Nee furniture store on Rockville Pike and we said "what's this?" and Lenny said "it's my Texaco fuel depot" and he proceeded to start siphoning gas out of the big delivery truck tanks and we looked and saw one solitary gas pump with the 'Texaco' emblem on it, hence: "Lenny's Texaco".

We didn't patronize Lenny's Texaco after that, we were too afraid of ending up at the Seven Locks Motel (Montgomery County Jail lol).

*ping* to Viking2002, you might enjoy some of these chuckles!

BWWWWHAAAAA!!!
Great stories, all.

In our generation we had a honest fear of authority. Call it "respect" if you care, but it was there and one heeded it. LOL

LMAO Memories man, memories. FWIW - I packed heat for two years at the USDOJ Data Center out at Seven Locks (Fortune Terrace) when Bush I was in office. Our boss always told us to keep the joint airtight and the riff raff out because he didn't want Dick Thornburgh coming out there wondering where the hell his paycheck was. LOL

And ya had to bring up Little Tavern again when my dinner ain't even half-cooked yet, didn't ya? LMAO

Stories??

OK, here we go. Dateline June,1965,South Bend,Ind. My dad brought home a 1965 Ford Mustang 289, 4 speed, 4 barrel, british racing green, black rag top, black interior. A week later, around midnight me and 2 buddies rolled it down the long driveway(I had snuck the keys after dinner), started it and took off. Never had so much fun in my life. Drove all over the Michigan countryside. Returned about 2:30 AM..........there was my dad, sitting on the front steps, smoking a cigarette, sipping a cup of coffee, looking calm.....too damn calm.

My 2 friends offered apologies, and ran like a thieves in the night. There I was, all alone, facing certain doom.

Dad: “ Nice car, huh?”

SJB: “Oh yeah.”

Dad: “Where did you go/”

SJB: “ Michigan”

Dad: “ I suppose Chicago was a bit too far. OK, every father should cut a kid slack one time in their life. For you, this is it. All is forgiven. If you do it again, you will die. A corpse, understand?”

A couple days later I asked why. He said he would have done it too! LOL!!
