have spoken to a couple of current and former ACORN insiders and here's how they characterize the firing of Beth Butler. She was kept on after Rathke himself was removed following his dismissal in the aftermath of the revelations that he covered up his brother's embezzlement.

Beth Butler
What do you mean by 'most profitable'? That they got more govt. money than other branches?
Where does the Left find so many ugly foks? There are toothless old peasants in China’s hinterlands who look better.
I don’t have the books in front of me but ACORN gets money from a lot of different sources.
OK, I wasn’t sure what would make this branch more profitable than others.
It’s interesting. If you run a non profit, and this isn’t just ACORN, you are more than anything a salesperson. Your primary job is to get people to give you money. In fact, it’s even a harder sale in a non profit because people have to give you money and they won’t get that money back.
If you saw the season finale of Entourage, Matt Damon was doing that for a charity he was running and he was using all the techniques that all high pressure sales people use.
