There is no defending this choice. This choice violates the will of Alfred Nobel.
As the saying goes, it’s a bad joke if you have to explain it. So imagine the laugh out loud joke of first giving the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barry Hussein Soetoro and then having to explain it like the members of the Norwegian committee has been doing for days now.(see story)
AP news reports that four members of the five-seat panel told The Associated Press that they had expected the decision to generate both surprise and criticism.
So what, the Nobel committee is playing Punk’d with the Nobel Peace Prize now? Is Ashton Kutcher on the panel?

Not that the award hasn’t been disgraced many times over, this has to be the worst.
The committee has made a mockery of the Nobel Peace prize. From now on it will be the but of jokes.
I agree completely. The nobels are a joke! Have been for decades.
Al Gore and Jimmy Carter would be ineligible under this standard. Ditto Yasser Arafat.

This is the loophole. The prize in no way requires anyone to bring about actual peace, so long as the committee can claim the winner contributed in some way to its development.
Thus, while Al Gore arguably created the very opposite of peace (i.e., an endless and inherently unresolvable religious war between true believers in global warming and those committed to the scientific method), the committee can (and did) imagine a future world in which Gore’s ravings instead contributed to saving mankind from self-destruction.
Obama’s award obviously was not based on anything he’d actually accomplished: only on the Hopium (in the words of John Kass) he’d spread in less than 2 weeks in office.
Of course, while sitting on his hands as Israel resolves the Iranian nuclear problem, it may be that Obama contributes far more to actual peace in the world than he ever intended. Too chicken to act against Iran, yet for the same reason too chicken to stand in the way of Israel, this feeble president may in a strange way be just what the doctor ordered at this crossroads in history. Maybe the Nobel committee is 1 step ahead of us all!
It is obvious: Hussein Obama GOT the award because he was America’s first BLACK President.
