Limbaugh already down one vote

Rush Limbaugh's bid to buy the St. Louis Rams ran into opposition within the NFL on Tuesday. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay vowed to vote against him and commissioner Roger Goodell said the conservative commentator's "divisive" comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider.

OK so if Rush succeeds in the bid and then sticks his foot in it Goodell will fine him. Just like with any other owner. Don’t make assumptions.

“the conservative commentator’s ‘divisive’ comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider.”

Oh, we’re back to that “divisive” thing. Conservatives are always divisive, when they’re not incendiary or controversial. Clinton was divisive for a little bit, too, back when Bush put himself forward as a uniter.

Lefties and milquetoast moderates can’t get away with calling him racist or implying he might set off another Oklahoma City bombing. So they fall back on the fact that not everyone agrees with what he says. Which is sorta like saying Obama’s unfit for office because the public is split in its opinion of him. It’s BS smokescreen nonsense. If Rush didn’t fit into polite society, if his brand of infotainment were beyond the line, they wouldn’t call him divisive. They’d say he’s a pottymouth, or whatever. Which they do say, but not so often, since even elderly fuddy-duddies can enjoy the program. And compared to the rest of popular culture, he’s not so vulgar (he is vulgar, but what isn’t these days).

I can see why the owners wouldn’t want Limbaugh or any controversial person on board. They are rolling in dough and loving life. Why stir up the hornet’s nest. Limbaugh should have kept this under wraps.

I don’t have to make assumptions. Goodall has given his stance.

“So why does the NFL get to decide who gets to own a team and who doesn’t”

Because all the teams have agreed to abide by certain rules and agreements. They do so because they can’t go it alone, since without the other teams they’d have nothing to do.

You ARE making assumptions. Goodell (you really should learn to spell his name) simply indicated that some stuff is not tolerated from NFL owners, which anybody familiar with Jerry Jones and some of the other owners knows is already the case.

"Screw the NFL. I am sick and tired of em anyways. How lame to be a fan of a bunch of overpaid thugs running around mouthing off."

Your opinion's hardly alone.

The NFL is about to open a genuine Pandora's Box.
So be it.

BTW *&* FWIW, count me out too.
I'm done.

The NFL gets to decide who does and doesn’t own a team for the same reason McDonalds gets to decide who does and doesn’t own one, the teams are franchises part of a larger corporate structure which sets rules and can reject people as franchise holders.

Oh I agree. Goodall is too stupid to realize he will be the hypocrite in all this.

I don’t agree with your assertion that Rush is vulgar, or “not so vulgar” as you put it. The worse thing I’ve ever heard Rush say that could be construed as “vulgar” is: “bend over, grab the ankles, and enjoy it.” Well, I guess you could say that’s vulgar but he was making a valid point, which I’m sure any and everyone listening knew what he meant. For the life of me, I’m at a loss for what else Rush has said that could be taken as vulgar.

Get the feeling the jerk simply doesn't give a damn?
Participating in nothing short of gang rape doesn't phase this scumbag *&* his NFL.
Well my friend, two can play that *game*.

Now, let the lawsuits for Defamation of Character, Slander & Libel begin; whatwith, the "Truth" being an absolute defense?
Unless justice proved is justice ignored, these days.

*Am* disssssssgusted beyond words.
That's really saying something.

As I said on another thread, this all plays right into Sarah Palin’s hands, as she has railed against bloggers making stuff up and the MSM reporting it.

“For the life of me, I’m at a loss for what else Rush has said that could be taken as vulgar.”

I don’t mean to say he’s vulgar in the sense that he uses naughty words. I don’t know how often he’s dirty, and I don’t keep logs on the programs I’ve listened to. But nevermind. It’s beside the point. I use the term vulgar in the wider sense of common. Maybe not so far as to be coarse or crude, but definitely uncultivated and lacking in subtlety.

Of course, it can be fairly argued that possessing fine taste is not relevant to Limbaugh’s career. That listeners don’t tune in expecting cultural criticism on the level of William F. Buckley, to take a recent conservative as example. That he does exactly what he’s supposed to do, and exceedingly well. He appeals to as wide an audience as possible in as short an amount of time as radio allows.

I say that no matter how well he does it, that enterprise is vulgar. Not any less vulgar than what we see on a daily basis on CNN, for instance. But vulgar nonetheless.

I never thought I would say this ~ but I will probably end my interest in the NFL

Tix are too expensive, my team stinks, I dislike many of the players and owners
Its now all about money and the spectacle. I could care less about Rush Limbaugh being an owner

But when political correctness also creeps in, you know the NFL has started its decline

While every word true, I *think* it safe to finally declare the truth's what THEY say the truth is.

Listen, I fear for Sarah Palin. I sincerely do.
They'll chew her up & spit her out and there'll be NO bonds they'll not cross to that end. None.
Destruction's the fate awaiting any & all decent, honest people these days who dare to oppose these criminally insane SOBs.

Meanwhile?
Genuinely sick, corrupt, twisted degenerates are chosen for us, to lead us?
I'm sickened.

Sarah Palin's too good for the republic as it is, now.
If I had my say, whatsoever, I'd tell her to go back to her family in AK where she has a shot at sanity, peace & love.
Leave 'em *all* to themselves.

Welcome to the future.
