Your # 4, exactly what we used to say about CLinton years back on FR. Clinton was on record as saying he “loathed the military” when he was college ago, in a letter to an Arkansas pol with enough clout to make sure the path was cleared for Clinton’s embryonic political career. With Obama , I don’t even think he ever thought it was necessary to say he loathed the military. VIrtually everything else he says and does confirms it.

Then again, sometimes one can be prophetic.

That could pave the way for what the hysterical Gore Vidal probably meant when he recently said the Obama seems so incompetent he could usher in a military dictatorship.
HOw close have we ever come to that?

I would like to see them all declare that they don’t believe that the zero is constitutionally eligible to be POTUS and then refuse to carry out his orders.

For the troops and the continuity of the mission, I hope McCrystal doesn’t have to resign. But if he does, we’ll know that Obama is playing politics with the lives of our war fighters.

McCrystal is 0bama’s general - he appointed him to that crappy job.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about - Gen.McCrystal was pushed via the Military to hold his / current position. The pressure on the new CINC Obama was such that he had no choice. Gen. McCrystal is a hunter, a smart and aggressive hunter, make no mistake about that.

Where is Obama going to find a general officer who will follow a losing strategy?

Good. But it’s not Foxnews - it’s Fox News

Obama promoted McCrystal to four star and approved his appointment to replace General McKiernan as commander in Afghanistan which McCrystal accepted. If you don't believe me, look it up.

He's now come to realize what a crappy job it is and what a crappy boss he has.

I do not dispute that “Gen. McCrystal is a hunter, a smart and aggressive hunter”.

Trust me. I'm very well aware of how the process put Gen. McCrystal in his current command. And where he came from, JSOC. My point to you was, it seems you do not understand that it was military pressure on a new (and very limited / weak in terms of military gravitas) that put the extremely capable Gen. McCrystal in this current command. It was not because of Obama in the least.

Gen. McCrystal is who is exactly needed in Stan for us to win. Full stop.

Speaking as a draftee, thanks to JFK when the commies built that wall in Berlin, I served with pride in The Old Guard in Arlington National Cemetery from 1961-63. I fired volleys over the graves of hundreds of fallen soldiers and watched as their wives and families wept in sorrow.

General McCrystal accepted Obama’s promotion to four star commander in Afghanistan but now finds that the CIC is weaseling on his commitment to his “war of necessity”. If McCrystal was as perceptive of the 0ne’s commitment, as most here on FR have been, he would have gotten assurance for more troops as a condition of his appointment up front. McCrystal is without doubt a fine warrior but as a four star, not so much.

Generals have the prerogative of resigning if their requests are not met by the CIC. The troops, however, do not have that privilege - they have to slug it out and die while the general retires to a life of luxury.

You seem to speak as a recent player in the WOT, probably as an officer. If so, thank you for your service, sir. However, I do not appreciate your condescending remarks to me, such as “trust me” and “full stop”. Such remarks make me suspicious of your credibility.
