The McDonnell election is an important harbinger for 2010. They DO NOT want him to win and Kaine and company are going to do everything legal and illegal to keep him from winning. McDonnell is a vet and has worked hard for the military. Virginia has a huge military population. Many of them at sea.

But are they really so stupid as to not realize the implications of McDonnell and the VAGOP running ads in the Tidewater area about how the Kaine/Deeds Dems are trying to deny those servicemen their right to vote?!?

They really hate those brave men and women who defend it.
This is the type of stuff that sends armies into mutiny. Taking away their basic right to vote, next is cutting pay and raising the years that a solider can retire. Then cutting benefits and equipment.
You wanna bet that when Obamas gets his private army, they will be able to vote as often as possible, where ever they like.
The democrats will rot in hell for all their misdeeds.

I’m glad for your response, padre, it was past my bedtime and I suppose I was too tired to realize I didn’t ping the list. (Those words were from the article.) Thank you.

Surely there are a myriad constitutional/legal reasons why they cannot be allowed to get away with that.

It is my understanding that the states set their own voting procedures and below that each party further has their own rules and procedures.

Democrats just HATE a fair election, don't they?

And, Democrats never, ever connect the astoundingly simple dot that setting up a system to work around voters and to game the elections affects THEM TOO.

They (the Democrats) have no idea just how good they have it in this wonderful country; and,

They (the Democrats) haven't the teensiest clue as to how desperately miserable THEY will be if/when we arrive at their Utopian collective state objective.

Voting procedures are one thing, but you cannot deny someone their right to vote by creating rules that make it impossible for them to vote.

I am sure you are correct. The Democrats for years have been trying in many ways to eliminate or minimize the military vote. If this woman is allowed to do as she says then a provision must be made for the military who receive late absentee ballots to have their votes counted. I don't know if that is also a state prerogative or not.

Last time I looked at the VA law on absentee ballots, in order to be counted they had to be received by 7p on the day of the election, same time the polls close.

When they wouldn’t give the military enough time to count ballots in my district, I wrote a letter to the editor explaining the situation. It was published, and later the newspaper wrote an article themselves saying we should give the military enough time.

Hope everyone who respects our military will write an editor’s letter to their home town newspaper to bring this to the public’s attention.

It is most definitely illegal/unconstitutional as were the various tactics employed to discourage blacks from voting back in the day. “Disenfranchised” unfortunately is tossed around so much that it loses meaning but it is a fact.

Thanks for the ping. I had been aware of this. But have had to work late hours the past few days. The Republican Party had better each time they have access to the L/MSM make the point to mention things like this.
