I could see President Palin going overseas and arranging for the Winter Olympics to be held in Alaska.

If we were just suggesting sites that have the space, are beautiful and would make a nice statement it would be excellent. But, it’s not the most easily accessed and I tend to think the locals would not be thrilled at the crowds or cost overrruns.

We went through this back in the 80’s, when a group was attempting to bring the 1884 Winter Olympics to Alaska. I’m pretty sure the original article is tongue in cheek but I say, as a Wasilla resident, no thanks to the Olympics.

Unless I can get away for a couple weeks.

we’d still end up paying for it for years afterwards.

You are right - it was written with tongue in cheek...the preferred venue would clearly be Bowie, Texas :)

No thanks, I like Wasilla the way it is. The media whores who flocked here last year were bad enough.

With the Palin book coming out, expect round 2 of the media freak show. And I wondred why Hertz and Avis are opening rental agencies here in Wasilla-they must know the media sludgestorm is approaching and want to cash in on the need for media transport.
