And how would they know or set about proving that? Especially since Sr’s marriages were in Kenya .. a loose or tribal ceremony .. maybe undocumented by any official recorded paper there.
And in the 60s, and a world away, it seems logical that, if this mixed couple showed up, got a HI marriage license, it would just be accepted as fact that they were both single, if they said they were, and given a HI wedding license.
I have no doubt it was doable then, and probably doable today, and that in the eyes of HI, it would be a legal recorded marriage, and that there could be an official HI record, and the HI officials would have no reason to change or update it, exclusive of a lawsuit or court order to modify such change.
