Don’t know anything about the marriage to Ruth other than I had seen it reported that it was done in Kenya..which of course could be not true.
So your theory is possible about the need for a divorce...

Below apparently from genealogical records-—a very weak source, but OTOH neither Ruth or BHO, Sr ever claimed they were married in Kenya to my knowledge.
I started wondering about this line of inquiry with Leo’s announcement about the index -— “bride” “groom” & whether that would necessarily require a “bride-groom” relationship existed between BHO, Sr & Stanley Ann or whether it could also indicate that each had a “bride-groom” relationship to two other individuals.
