They will have to make up their minds and that is the conflict I saw with Mcrystal..he seemd determined, yet angry at the Pentagon and the Bamster. I thought he was saying, give me way more troops and let me do a surge and what follows, or...get the hell out.that’s what I took out of it.
He is a very focused man and he won’t do a “Chinese menu “ strategy, a little surge, a little drones and a general mess.

So how is that different from Donald Rumsfeld's policy? Just asking for clarification. I believe the surge in Iraq was effective, but that only happened after Rumsfeld resigned.

Of course America should care about that. But Pakistan is a stridently Muslim country. They really are not our friends. And it seems many in Pakistan would like to have the Taliban in charge of their country. And there would nothing we could do to prevent that except perhaps nuke the place before the real Islamic crazies got control of Paki nuke arsenal. (Or let India do it for us.) In other words, America and the West is in a very difficult position over there. Not too many options for us. Either all out war or get the hell out should the Taliban start to take over.
