More bad news for the Democratic Parties Favorite community organizing group, ACORN. While Harry Reid continues to get heat at home for refusing to allow Senate hearings on ACORN, Senator Grassley had his staff do a little investigation of their own. According to the Capital Research Center, Grassley (R-Iowa), asked the IRS to probe ACORN and asked that the group be dropped from the Combined Federal Campaign (a charitable program for government workers). This is not the first time the Senator has gone after the ACORN criminal enterprise, in 2006 he asked the IRS to investigate ACORN for voter fraud.
Yesterday Grassley sent a letter to the IRS Commissioner Douglas H. Shulman and another letter to John Berry, Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management asking for an investigation. Both letters are available here.
At the same time Grassley released documents that show leaders of ACORN community transferred several million dollars in charitable and government money meant for the poor to parts of the group that have political and sometimes profit-making missions.
Grassley's documents indicate that ACORN's tax-exempt groups along with its tangled web of allied organizations used more than half their charitable and public money in 2006 to pay other ACORN affiliates. Grassley called the transactions a "big shell game" and said donors may be surprised by how the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known for helping the poor obtain housing and health care, was spending their money. He urged the Internal Revenue Service to take a closer look

If folks want results, the investigations need to be conducted at the state level, in states where 'Rats don't run the political machinery.
This has the potential to bankrupt ACORN. In fact, if the IRS decides those orgs are not non-profit, the sudden tax bill could completely destroy them.
Can we find out how much ACORN and their affiliates contributed to ‘certain’ congresscritters campaign funds?
God bless Hannah, and I will contribute to her defense. But, I sure hope ACORN goes after her and James in court. I think the discovery process will be very interesting indeed. Might even weed out more than just ACORN criminal enterprise.
and what..they pay their tax bill with taxpayer funds? PEOPLE need to go to JAIL!
IRS Commissioner Douglas H. Shulman needs to check into Charlie Rangel’s illegal gains. Is this guy a partisan hack?
Is he within the “Beltway”?
Good for Grassley!
I don’t think congressional crooks will be able to sweep this under the carpet. If they do and are successful...especially if their campaigns have benefited, they’ll eventually be tagged as a co-conspirator, IMunqualifiedO.
In a related note: interesting how Qadafi mentioned ‘his son’ receiving ‘legal’ contributions from his brothers and sisters in Arab countries.
Wonder how many of these generous folks were supporting Acorn. Can we say ‘money laundering’?
They go to prison if they DON’T pay the taxes. Then the IRS takes the money anyway.
Silly wabbit, Acorn doesn’t pay taxes [many liens] After all, non-payment is the democratic way!
“and asked that the group be dropped from the Combined Federal Campaign (a charitable program for government workers)”
That’s gonna hurt.
Let’s hope that some honest investigation of ACORN shows how it has it’s tentacles firmly in the White House. Wasn’t Obama at one time ACORN’s lawyer?
There are so many ACORN offshoots (ie. CSI) and affiliates (ie. SEIU).

FLASHBACK:
ACORN Watch, Pt II: Obama hid $800,000 payment to ACORN through Citizen Services, Inc.
By Michelle Malkin August 22, 2008 11:46 AM
See here, where liberal group Ohio Citizen Action notes a $907,808 payment to Citizens Services for canvassing and $590,526.10 for campaign consulting. Thats some gold-plated get-out-the-vote and consulting services right there.
There has been a lot of talk about “predatory lending” in the mortgage crisis and ensuing economic collapse.
Now that we have ACORN on tape counseling various felonies, can we tie them to “predatory counseling?” Clearly they’ve crossed the line from how to “work the system” into fraud on the O’Keefe/Giles tapes. Can we review the applications of bad mortgages where they counseled the applicants and identify cases where ACORN helped defraud the mortgage companies and stick America with the bill?
Yep. He was a ‘trainer’ for Acorn. Gave 100m to Acorn when part of the Annenburg Foundation grant program [where he co-chaired by unrepentant terrorist, Billy the Bomber Ayers]
Zero’s had his hand on Acorn nuts for quite some time and apparently has enjoyed the relationship, although he cannot remember it at this point.
He keeps this up, he’ll be on a Section 8, due to memory recall issues.
“Now that we have ACORN on tape counseling various felonies, can we tie them to predatory counseling?”
Seems likely as part a RICO suit. Essentially, they were telling Hannah and James how to get a ninja loan, IMO.
The socialists' ENRON.
Money flows back and forth between ACORN, Citizens Services Inc., Project Vote and Communities Voting Together. ACORN posts job ads for Citizens Services and Project Vote. Communities Voting Together contributed $60,000 to Citizens Services Inc., for example, in November 2005, according to a posting on CampaignMoney.com. Project Vote has hired ACORN and CSI as its highest paid contractors, paying ACORN $4,649,037 in 2006 and CSI $779,016 in 2006, according to Terry of the Consumers Rights League.
