I may be mistaken, but I don’t think the young man was using that language. It was only his hysterical skank girlfriend, wasn’t it? I agree with you to some extent—this young person was and is a nutcase. And in general I don’t approve of coarse language for any woman.

However, there are times of real stress when one does employ such language, and policewomen, soldiers, sailors, female Marines, and others may occasionally use it. I myself will come out with some pretty brisk verbiage in the first few seconds when I realize a twelve-hundred-pound horse is actively trying to kill me. Though I used no bad language during labor and delivery, many fine women do have recourse to extremely strong language when in the throes of childbirth. I have known real gentlewomen use the full constellation of Anglo-Saxonism when hunting hounds or responding to an emergency. So kindly don’t tar us all with the same brush. We are not all trash just because we use strong language in times of danger.

In childbirth? Are you serious?

When in an extreme situation, such as being mugged, a lady may be excused for uttering some salty language, but there are far too many young women today who just pepper their ordinary conversatons with filthy words.

What’s with the double-standard?

&&&
There always has been a double standard. Men expect the women they care about to be above them in some ways, and acting like a lady accomplishes such.

I don’t see why men should not try to curb themselves and act like gentlemen.

I have seen some of the newest women posters use very foul language here on the forum. Even if it's abbreviated you know what it is and it's unnecessary. I do believe they are very young women and sadly it just seems to be part of their everyday language nowdays.

LOL! You betcha, to quote my favorite Alaskan. You go through 20 hours of back labor with a nine-pound kid and you may end up offering to kill your husband and indeed anyone of the male species. Even fine Christian ladies may scream like a military jet taking off when they are in an extremity of pain. And the vaginal laceration is just the frosting on the cake. Spend much time in a labor-and-delivery suite and you will receive a real education.

When in an extreme situation, such as being mugged, a lady may be excused for uttering some salty language, but there are far too many young women today who just pepper their ordinary conversatons with filthy words.

That is quite true. And quite appalling.

I agree with you.

My beau thinks I don't even know those words; after knowing me for years, he has yet to hear me use rough language. He thinks I am the finest and most delicately-bred lady on earth. Little does he know what goes on when I am engaged in breaking horses! But he respects me greatly and treats me like fine porcelain in part because I speak, act, and dress like a lady when we are out in public.
