With the federal treasury facing insolvency what industry do we help next? Well lets see, how about the public relations arm of the Democratic party, the newspaper industry. That way when our Taxes go even higher they can tell us that it is a great idea. Today the President said that he would be happy to look at the Senate proposal allowing papers to restructure as non-profit organizations.
Non-Profit may describe a newspaper's balance sheet, but it should not describe its tax status, unless of course, if Senator Benjamin Cardin( D-Md.) gets his way. The Senator introduced a bill on the Senate floor that would allow newspapers to elect to receive tax-exempt status all they have to do is promise not to endorse any political candidates (but they can report on the campaign).
Most newspapers today do not need an editorial page to show their bias, maybe that's why the President took this opportunity to bash the internet and spread love toward the newspaper industry.

We need to starve the beast. No dealing with companies that have taken Federal tax dollars (TARP for instance). Quit buying crap, buy only whats really needed. Until they tax it, buy on-line sales tax-free if possible. Support your local businesses. In other words cut down on the taxes/government funding that is within your power. I know there is not much one can do about income, property, and other like taxes but if the government dares to raise them high enough maybe the sheep will become goats and start butting back......maybe

“Print is dead.”
- True. And Obama doesnt like it. In a newspaper column praising His Royal Assness, dissenting comments aren’t allowed. Thus, Obama doesn’t like all of these forums, blogs, talk radio call-ins, etc.

"Print is dead."
Too bad. They jumped off of a cliff.
The new media is a lot more dangerous. The new media knows everything that you read, and every site you post on.
Print never could tell for sure.
They win even as they die.

I believe that 80% of the shutdown dealers were Republican donors; however, I believe that it was shown that 80% of the remaining dealers also were Republican donors...

They aren’t making anything now and not paying income taxes so if they put an item in the bill the makes it illegal to charge for online content it might be alright.

It would be the nail in the coffin for the MSM. Look how great its been for the auto industry. There's a difference. They WANT the papers to succeed. The automotive companies, not so much.

Only newspapers that agree with and cover for him, of course. This is B.S.

Are they going to drop that “objectivity” lie yet? They should rename their papers to include “Pravda” in the title.
But, that might be confusing seeing as how the real Pravda is more trustworthy than most of the American press.
