The Washington Post published an article, bringing up a thesis that McDonnell wrote in 1989 while in law school. The thesis contained some rather incendiary language, and the Rag jumped on him for it. It painted him as an extremist who will impose a theocracy on the Commonwealth, replete with the worst kind of fear mongering. Deeds himself has been hammering McDonnell over this thesis, with a seemingly endless stream of attack ads. And despite the rhetoric from the Democrats (remember then-Senator Obama's position on attack ads when he had a comfortable lead in the 2008 campaign?) on how ineffective negative campaigning is, recent polls are starting to show a tightening of the race, likely solely as a result of the Post's hit piece.

Why do I know about McDonnel’s thesis, but Obama’s thesis is under impenetrable seal?
Well, I was polled the other evening and it might have been this poll. It was a push poll. Didn’t start out that way, but it sure ended that way. It continued for at least 15 minutes.
I think the writer gives too much credit to the WaPo. No one cares (or knows) what they think.
The race is tightening because that’s what races do.
I heard the “Dark Ages” ad on the radio today and I was like... how desperate are these losers? If we cannot talk about the things 0bama was doing 20 years ago, then what Mr. McDonnell did at that time should be off limits too.
why are they not attacking the WaPo “journalists”? I’m sure somebody must have dated somebody some time.
Indeed.
They start bashing the Republican candidate 24/7.
What's even more infuriating is how many Freepers, Republicans and Conservatives continue to subscribe, read and watch liberal media outlets.
For those who dont already know, the good guys in the Virginia race (Republican slate):

http://www.billbolling.com/ for Lieutenant Governor
http://www.cuccinelli.com/ for Attorney General
I think he need SARAH to come out there and straighten out the record.
“Don’t make me call SARAH !!”
Ten words: macaca macaca macaca macaca macaca macaca macaca macaca macaca macaca.
Yep, they turned on George Allen over the word “macaca”.
Pretty worrisome precedent.
No, I think Allen’s race proved Virginian’s to put a little too much emphasis on the opinion of WAPO. I think to a degree that is happening here as well.
However, that wasn’t the only reason Allen lost. He handled the attack poorly.
I do agree the loss here isn’t entirely do to WAPO though. Vriginia is a swing state. A Republican was not going to win by double digits. More likely by 2-4%
