Great Article on Obama by Anne Wortham, Even Some Black People Don't Like Obama
notoriouslyconservative.com ^ | 09 17 09 | Sick of the Idiots

Posted on 09/17/2009 7:31:54 AM PDT by Notoriously Conservative

Let me start by saying I got this in an email and as soon as I read it, I just HAD to share it with you. I don't know how old it is, or how widely circulated, but it is absolutely worth getting in front of as many people as possible, especially all these clowns who have recently surfaced saying that the reason we right-thinkers hate Obamoron is because he is black.

ANNE WORTHAM

Anne Wortham is Associate Professor of Sociology at Illinois State University and continuing Visiting Scholar at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. She is a member of the American Sociological Association and the American Philosophical Association.

She has been a John M. Olin Foundation Faculty Fellow, and honored as a Distinguished Alumni of the Year by the Nation al Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.

In fall 1988 she was one of a select group of intellectuals who were featured in Bill Moyer's television series, "A World of Ideas." The transcript of her conversation with Moyers has been published in his book, A World of Ideas.

Dr. Wortham is author of "The Other Side of Racism: A Philosophical Study of Black Race Consciousness" which analyzes how race consciousness is transformed into political strategies and policy issues..

She has published numerous articles on the implications of individual rights for civil rights policy, and is currently writing a book on theories of social and cultural marginality.

Recently, she has published articles on the significance of multiculturalism and Afrocentricism in education, the politics of victimization and the social and political impact of political correctness. Shortly after an interview in 2004, she was awarded tenure.

This article by her is something.

Fellow Americans,

Please know: I am Black; I grew up in the segregated South.. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul's name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a Black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a Black president to love the ideal of America.

I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival - all that I know about the history of the United States of America , all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the "change" that Obama asserts has come to America .

Most importantly, I would have to abnegate my certain understanding that you have chosen to sprint down the road to serfdom that we have been on for over a century. I would have to pretend that individual liberty has no value for the success of a human life. I would have to evade your rejection of the slender reed of capitalism on which your success and mine depend. I would have to think it somehow rational that 94 percent of the 12 million Blacks in this country voted for a man because he looks like them (that Blacks are permitted to play the race card), and that they were joined by self-declared "progressive" whites who voted for him because he doesn't look like them.

I would have to wipe my mind clean of all that I know about the kind of people who have advised and taught Barack Obama and will fill posts in his administration - political intellectuals like my former colleagues at the Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

I would have to believe that "fairness" is equivalent of justice. I would have to believe that a man who asks me to "go forward in a new spirit of service, in a new service of sacrifice" is speaking in my interest. I would have to accept the premise of a man that economic prosperity comes from the "bottom up," and who arrogantly believes that he can will it into existence by the use of government force. I would have to admire a man who thinks the standard of living of the masses can be improved by destroying the most productive and the generators of wealth.

Finally, Americans, I would have to erase from my consciousness the scene of 125,000 screaming, crying, cheering people in Grant Park, Chicago irrationally chanting "Yes We Can!" Finally, I would have to wipe all memory of all the times I have heard politicians, pundits, journalists, editorialists, bloggers and intellectuals declare that capitalism is dead - and no one, including especially Alan Greenspan, objected to their assumption that the particular version of the anti-capitalistic mentality that they want to replace with their own version of anti-capitalism is anything remotely equivalent to capitalism.

So you have made history, Americans. You and your children have elected a Black man to the office of the president of the United States, the wounded giant of the world. The battle between John Wayne and Jane Fonda is over - and that Fonda won. Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern must be very happy men. Jimmie Carter, too. And the Kennedys have at last gotten their Kennedy look-a-like. The self-righteous welfare statists in the suburbs can feel warm moments of satisfaction for having elected a Black person.

So, toast yourselves: 60s countercultural radicals, 80s yuppies and 90s bourgeois bohemians. Toast yourselves, BlackAmerica. Shout your glee Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Duke, Stanford, and Berkeley. You have elected not an individual who is qualified to be president, but a Black man who, like the pragmatist Franklin Roosevelt, promises to - Do Something! You now have someone who has picked up the baton of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. But you have also foolishly traded your freedom and mine - what little there is left - for the chance to feel good.

There is nothing in me that can share your happy obliviousness. God Help Us all...

Anne Wortham

I saw two young Black men on You Tube telling what they thought about Obama saying America was not a Christian nation. It was refreshing hearing their thoughts on Obama.
It’s time now for the righteous Black people to come forward and say Enough to Obama and his supporters.

For the record (per truthorfiction.com) . . .

"No He Can't" by Dr. Anne Wortham -Truth!

Summary of the eRumor: A forwarded email titled "No He Can't" by an associate professor of sociology at Illinois State University, Anne Wortham Ph.D. that says that although she is black and grew up in the segregated South she did not vote for Obama and is not celebrating his election to the presidency.

The Truth: Dr. Anne Wortham is, in fact, an associate professor of sociology at Illinois State University and wrote this article which appears on the LewRockwell.com and the Wordpress.com web sites as well as several blog sites on the internet.

Well, it’s a ridiculous mistake to think all blacks think alike any more than all whites do. The whole premise of this article makes no sense.

I have a black guy who works for me..a fine young man who married his wife and raises his children as did his military dad before him

I have known him a while, he got dragged down a bit 10 years ago hanging with some no good “wiggahs” but his family reeled him in quick and good.

He did not vote for Obama because he saw the giveaways coming, he is pro-life and pro-gun...just like me.

He says Obama will hurt black folks immeasurably and he loathes him for it...and that btw where does Obama get off claiming to be black anyhow?

His sub contracting business is called Southern Pride...and he has it in spades.

He is in that 4-5% politically in the black community. I think we probably have more of them down here.

The flood of support for Obama had everything to do with simply him BEING “black” (whatever that means), and almost none of those who so fervently got out there to shout his virtues actually STUDIED who and what he was - a Red Diaper baby, raise from infancy to BE a socialist, with no balance at all in his upbringing concerning the OBLIGATIONS one has if they should claim to be “American”.

But of those who scorn the current Resident (Pres_ent) Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., or Barry Soetoro, or Mr Michelle Robinson, or Sock-Puppet, supposedly the son of an out-of-control teenager and a Kenyan exchange student, virtually none, nada, zip, zero, do so because of his skin color. It is almost entirely due to his doctrinaire and inverse view of the world, in which the United States is morally so corrupt as to be beyond redemption in its current state. Therefore, America must fundamentally change. And he has reverted to the most autocratic and authoritarian form he can impose, an Americanized form of the Soviet Union. Simultaneously, the Judeo-Christian foundations of law and order are to be supplanted by the “more beautiful” kind of combined civil and religious law that exists in Islam, but that is a more distant goal, only after the demolition of the existing Christian majority is broken and fragmented.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan, former Senator from New York, said it best - “defining deviancy down.”

Apparently there is no bottom limit.

Libs have an answer to this type of off the plantation mentality: “This woman is a self-hating black person.” You see, if she really loved and valued herself as black, she would not deny the racism and meanness on display towards Dear Leader. She must be uncomfortable with her self and therefore projects this onto BamBam.

I have seen the tactic used with regard to race and homosexuality, too (e.g., if someone is gay and disagrees with the notion of gay marriage or adoption, it’s only because they are still struggling to accept themselves for “what they really are”.)

Which all sums up nicely to: Libs don’t know how NOT to label people.

The real “profiles in courage” I’ve seen lately are the non-Caucasians
that appear at the Tea Party rallies.
I pray these courageous individuals aren’t in real danger when they get home.
Groupthink is a tough thing and could pose a real threat to these patriots.

Many moons ago, I participated in the Gore V. Bush protests at the
Federal Building in West Los Angeles. Amongst the pro-Bush folks
(many FRs) was one fellow that is probably of Asian/Pacific Islander
origin...and blessed with a brown complexion.

I’d reprint some of the abuse he took when car-loads of limousine
liberals would curse him...saying “What the H-LL are you do protesting
for Bush? With these conservative retards?”
Good taste restrains me from reproducing some of the more obscene
threats hurled at our co-protestor.

I’m thankful that no violence broke out, but there were a few tense
moments.

(I suspect the main thing that restrained the liberals nutburgers
from jumping out of their cars was the knowledge that many of the pro-Bush
folks were plenty beefy and some were fairly obviously ex-military
or law enforcement.)
