HAAS-TA LA VISTA: September Madness
WeHo News ^ | September 14, 2009 | Werner Haas

Posted on 09/15/2009 4:59:41 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The events since President Barack Obama’s election have turned me into an angry and vengeful man.

I want someone to break Glenn Beck’s jaw. I want Dick Cheney’s pacemaker to fail (compared to Ted Kennedy’s funeral, how many might come to Cheney’s?).

I’d like to see Karl Rove bitten by a rattle-snake, miles from any first aid station.

I want someone to push a cream pie in Sarah Palin’s face. I’d force every right-wing nut to have to wear the Scarlett Letter “R” for “Redneck.”

Except for the crazies who invade WeHo on weekends and holidays, I must say I’m glad that this diversified rainbow-colored village is symbolic of what so much of the rest of America lacks - some dignity and class and education and concern about the future.

We may fuss about saving Tara or not tearing down Movietown Plaza or we may dislike John Heilman’s coiffure - but we act in a civilized fashion here, for the most part.

Wehoans mostly respect opinions that may not always match their own, this publication a case in point.

It is sad for me, who from early childhood on saw America as a beacon of hope and opportunity, to see the terrible divisions and the hatred of those who are afraid of change.

Fear versus hope. Resistance versus hope.

That self-serving “proud American extremist” in Redding, Joe the plumber, that gun-toting creep in New Hampshire outside Obama’s town hall meeting- these are no longer weirdoes - they have become much too representative of the mainstream.

Maybe one reason for this emergence of a redneck viperous generation is the failure of the American education system, where benighted teachers pass along non-productive students unable to read their graduation certificates and forced into a world where they learn that might often makes right.

I find it outrageous that these smug politicians - mostly Republicans and Southerners, of course - rail about government overseeing health care, when under their favorite son, Dubyah, the government helped kill thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.

Many of us dared to hope that last November’s election would radically improve politics in Washington and the direction of this country.

Alas, the Democrats have turned out to be compromising wimps unwilling to stand up and dare the mossback right-wingers to stop them from improving the lot of every American.

What concerns me and makes me the most angry is that what is happening in Washington now gives credence to the long-held belief by the non-voters that their vote wouldn’t make a difference.

Maybe our votes for change have somehow gotten lost.

Still, I hold out hope Lindsey Graham will choke on grits and Senator Grassly fall into a grain elevator and Rush Limbaugh get a tumor on his vocal cords.

And, that Louisiana governor? He doesn’t look “American.” Has anyone checked his birth certificate?

On another note… my apologies to a nice young man.

Last Tuesday morning I was on Santa Monica Blvd, crossing San Vicente in the morning, when a handsome young man with a tiny dog and a friend (only the dog was on a leash) passed me.

I thought this young man said something, but my brain doesn't swing into high gear before noon, so I was late in realizing he had told me, "I read your column every week."

So, a very belated Thank You- and may your life be as long and fruitful (no pun intended) as mine has been so far.

Wow. Despair from the left. Even the demise of the right wing political figures won’t appease this writers disillusionment.

hehehe

Another sign that “liberalism is a mental disorder.” The cure? Hmm... The Lord just kept quiet instead of reasoning with Herod.

Yeah, this article is also a case in point. Read what you wrote, Werner, then tell us again how tolerant you are about other peoples' opinions.

Is that what they really think of us.....LOL! Just kidding, I know it is. My older brother is as liberal as they come and it’s all about emotions and feelings with them. When they lose the constitutionality question (which the GOP doesn’t seem to care much about either), they start calling you names and saying that you want to starve children and make illegals die from lack of compassion (health care). It’s sickening.

I’m almost at loss for words about this guy. I would suggest a shrink but he probably has one on retainer.

It always cracks me up when someone who claims to like civil conversation resorts to name-calling to make their points.

Dear Mr. Haas:

Stultum est absurdas opiniones accuratius refellere.

But that's just the uneducated redneck in me coming out.

Personally, I’d be surprised if the events since President Bush’s election didn’t him into an angry, vengeful.

I'm sure he's tolerant of liberals, progressives, and socialists/communists/Maoists - that about covers the political spectrum, from left to lefter to leftest, of people he and his twinky buds tolerate!
