After all the rhetoric is put aside, one principle ran through President Obamas speech tonight: that increased government involvement in health care can solve its problems.
Many Americans fundamentally disagree with this idea. We know from long experience that the creation of a massive new bureaucracy will not provide us with more stability and security, but just the opposite. It's hard to believe the President when he says that this time he and his team of bureaucrats have finally figured out how to do things right if only well take them at their word.

My question is..did Sarah know McLame was an old fart before the rest of us did. And if so, why did she join up with him?
It’s ON!

Simple - 10 years of national exposure in a few weeks, plus an immediate potential shot at the White House.
McCain throwing himself under the Obama bus with a smile didn't exactly help things, but that was hardly Sarah's fault. Without her, he would have lost in a rout. As it is, she proved her political power by single-handedly lifiting a political suicide into the realm of a respectable loss.
I love it!
Sarah tried to drag McLame to the finish line in 2008 and now it looks like she'll have to drag the entire GOP to the finish line in 2010 and 2012.
At this point Sarah Palin seems to be the only Repub with spine and cajones. I pray to God she gets the nomination in 2008 because I sure as hell don't want a nominee that's going to be begging Obama for forgiveness every time he says something Obama and McLame don't like.
Agree! Except you meant 2012 in the last line, not 2008.
But I knew that. ;)

I made a mistake in my post. I pray to God she gets the nomination in 2012 not 2008.
One thing I think would be cool is for Sarah Palin to give her responses to Obama's speeches on the O'Riley Factor or the Sean Hannity show. It would be better than the limp wristed official responses from the GOP.
The guy that gave the GOP response seemed like a nice guy but unfortunately the GOP isn't dealing with nice people when they're dealing with Obama and his leftist ilk in the Democrat party. Obama and his socialist cronies in the House and Senate want to turn America into a commie utopia that would make Stalin proud, and are willing to run over and destroy anyone who will stand in their way.
If the GOP doesn't stop with this "We just want to reach across the isle and work with Obama but he wont let us." crap as a response, the GOP will continue to be political road kill and the American people will get the mother of all screwings by the time Emperor Obama and his ACORN minions are done.
Do you mean to tell me that this beautiful, intelligent woman stopped laughing long enough to be able respond to the lies from “Mack Daddy the Zebra’s” reading (speech)?
......In his speech the President directly responded to concerns Ive raised about unelected bureaucrats being given power to make decisions affecting life or death health care matters. He called these concerns bogus, irresponsible, and a lie — so much for civility. After all the name-calling, though, what he did not do is respond to the arguments weve made, arguments even some of his own supporters have agreed have merit.
In fact, after promising to make sure that no government bureaucrat .... gets between you and the health care you need, the President repeated his call for an Independent Medicare Advisory Council — an unelected, largely unaccountable group of bureaucrats charged with containing Medicare costs. He did not disavow his own statement that such a group, working outside of normal political channels, should guide decisions regarding that huge driver of cost ... the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives.... He did not disavow the statements of his health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, and continuing to pay his salary with taxpayer dollars proves a commitment to his beliefs. The President can keep making unsupported assertions, but until he directly responds to the arguments Ive made, Im going to call him out too........
The allegedly “stupid, uneducated” Sarah Palin made a better statement of the reality of the health care/death care debate than all obama’s highly educated czars, operatives, and apparatchiks. And she got under his skin, an made him BOMB his speech, too!!!!
I myself have two Harvard degrees, and am a certified wonk by anyone’s definition. But I am a socially conservative Christian who is pro-life throughout the life cycle, and believe that doctors, health care administrators, scientists, and health policy-makers must work for the sake of patients. So that’s the difference between Sunstein/Emanuel/Blumenthal/Holdren and me!!!!
