“I’m not familiar with some of his past statements”

translation

I don’t know what I’m talking about but my masters tell me Jones is a good man.

Gergen has been a camera hound and self-righteous leftist for decades.

Did Gergen take the trouble to explain why a brilliant President like his hero Barack Obama would have even considered accepting the resignation of such a fine upstanding patriot like Van Jones?

If Jones is such a great American, the why didn't Gergen's beloved POTUS stand up like a man & defend Jones from such hideously unfair slurs propagated by a tiny cabal of allegedly racist right-wing online thugs & talk show hosts?

After all, most Americans hadn't even heard of Jones until after he'd resigned, thank to a media which was only too happy to cover up the controversy over his disturbing previous statements for their friends in this WH. There was no need for him to go.

By minimizing Van Jones' repugnantly racist, anti-American positions, Gergen unwittingly implies here that the President he admires so much is an unprincipled paintywaist who was pwned by Glenn Beck.

Um, ya sure ya wanna do that, Dave?

Who’s listened to anything David Gergen has had to say in the last 10 years?

"The White House I don't think forced him out, I think he fell on his own sword, but it made no effort to keep him...but I think it's a sad day to see a man of good work get so little credit, there's no balance to understanding just how many good things he's done"

Gergen's comments on the falling from grace by the erstwhile communistic black power activist Jones are either incredibly naive, or in accord with his own views on race relations and gaining political advantage through violent black power activism, or incredibly stupid, or perhaps all three.

According to what I have recently learned, Jones was and still is a black power promoter who has advocated a violent revolution by black American as a viable means of attaining "equality" (by which he means superiority) with whites by force of arms. And that's just one of the less objectionable aspects of his past record on the issue of what he regards as black Americans achieving economic and political parity (actually superiority) with white Americans. In any event, there can be no doubt that Gergen knows a lot, probably almost everything, about Jones' record of advocating violence as a tactic for gaining political and economic power for blacks by whatever means he thinks will work to help gain that objective, which is not an undesirable objective if sought by lawful, peaceful means.

To be honest, I don't know much about Jones myself other than what I learned by watching Glen Beck's report on him and his record as an advocate for armed and violent black activism a couple of weeks ago. But I am reasonably sure that Gergen knows far more about Jones and his unsavory activities in the recent past than I will ever know, and yet he publicly praised him to the heavens above in spite of what he knew. I will admit that it is possible, but very unlikely, that I am remembering Beck's revelations about another black Obama associate instead of Jones. If that happens to be the case, I still think Gergen is an ass of the first order if and when he praises any known advocate, either black, white or whatever, for the use of violence against any segment of the US population for what could well be a worthwhile cause if sought lawfully and nonviolently.
