Vanity-Government control of out Lives

Posted on 09/08/2009 9:17:38 PM PDT by where's_the_Outrage?

I have been spending some time in Thailand and it is amazing to me what I see there, America in the 60's. I see things there that were in America in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, but no longer. Makes me remember when I was going up we had:

- pick up games of Baseball and football with the neighborhood kids. I do not see this today.

- Dogs without leashes

- riding in the back of a pickup

- go carts

- and this list goes on.

Stuff that pisses me off:

- Riding lawnmowers that cannot reverse without shutting the engine off

- "approved" containers for gasoline

- neighborhood kid sports not done, all organized sports

- knowing your neighbors

- kids tricker-treating by themselves

- Being afraid of our Government

I have been an American "Love it of leave it" type guy for years. High probability that I am leaving in the next year.

God Bless America because it needs it.

What Freedoms do you miss?

Smoking at a ballgame.

A few years back, long after the anti-smoking hysteria shut it down, a man tried to quietly light up at a baseball game. The scent of the cigarette and the visuals of the baseball game took me back to my childhood.

Alas a do-gooder rattet him out and an usher came by and made him put it out.

I miss the freedom to speak and write without worrying about the Speech Police going berserk.

I miss seeing actors portray drunks as a “lovable lush”. Think Otis Campbell on the Andy Griffith show. You’ll never see those characters on tv again.
Comedians have lost the freedom to poke fun at anybody and everybody. They are now basically restricted to making fun of white, straight folks. All the rest are off limits.

I miss riding around our little bitty town WITHOUT a seat belt.

I "miss" being able to buy guns through the Sears catalog.

I "miss" it because I was a small child last time I saw it, and never experienced "doing" it. Handguns in the hardware store. We used to have fireworks that went *BANG*...now-- literally -- they go *sssshhhhh.....*

Yes indeed. Being a American here you come to relize just how much the USA has turned into a Police State.

Don't know how many times a day that I see something being done that if in Amerika you would be locked or fined away forever.
