One Milwaukee Federal Judge has recused himself from cases which elevate street crime to Federal Offenses.

His recusal was triggered by a gun possession prosecution.

Is it possible the National Rifle Association’s insistance on enforcing existing Gun Control laws (rather than insist the Constitution be honored and criminals be convicted of criminal behaviour) has had the unintended consequence of prison overcrowding?

This is one of those slippery slope situations. Bad cases make bad law which is then applied to everyone, including ordinary citizens who are not part of the original targeted group of (presumed) evildoers.

Could the time come when the original charge of spitting on the sidewalk becomes a life sentence for "gun crime" based on bad precedent set by the War On Drugs?

Only in America.

yes...

in the 90s i bought into the 20K laws on the books were 'plenty'...I didnt consider the unintended consequences that keep ratcheting up the further we go downhill...

until we eliminate those, the nra is, at best, a powerful lobby that will only get us to tyranny half as quickly...while continuing to overflow our landfills with donation requests...
